Have a feeling not a ton of teams will be looking to pay Hoskins what he wants. Terrible defensively, so he’s really just a full time DH, coming off of a brutal leg injury. Not to mention Garver can dh, play 1st, and catch (not well) and JD Martinez is coming off a great season
this has to be up there for greatest status discrepancy between two athletes doing a pre-game greeting
The White Sox are tearing every dollar out of the organization, letting Jason Benetti walk to the fucking Tigers is gross. This is going to enrage the fans
I think it was Tobias that mentioned it, but I wasn't really aware of the pathetic state of the White Sox until this year. I wouldn't even use the word "cursed," almost "intentionally sabotaged." At least most of yall hopefully get to live in Chicago. Great city.
The White Sox are gonna do the Oakland A's thing where they gut the franchise to the studs and let the fans disappear then demand a new stadium or they are moving to Nashville/Charlotte Its going to be gross as hell I predict Chicago/IL/Cook County will give em a stadium sadly
yeah i just kind of assumed they were your run of the mill bad franchise but they legit are the worst franchise in the mlb and that is with a WS in the last twenty years
Jerry built a hideous monstrosity of a stadium 34 years ago; nobody should ever give that man a penny to build another stadium. I just hope he proves he’s not a tortoise and kicks the bucket soon and his heirs sell the team to a new ownership group that builds a new stadium on the South Side - take a wrecking ball to the current stadium and build a new one right next to it and actually do it right this time.
And not the first time Jerry let a great broadcaster walk. Harry Caray and his tradition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame that’s associated with the Cubs? Yeah, it didn’t start there…
Why the fuck is the guy with the title Chief Revenue Officer making that announcement. That is hilariously bad look.
Jerry probably has enough people in his ear telling him that Casper is better anyways and deserves the job and will cost less money. (None of which is true)
Comiskey Park was basically the last new stadium built when the idea was like "this is a baseball stadium built to play baseball in and no one cares about anything else." And then Camden Yards went up like 1 year later and made them look stupid immediately. And now you can't build a stadium for less than $2B. The design of that field was always terrible, though. Goes out way too far in the lower bowl.
faces away from downtown and was built to hold like 55,000 ppl just dumb as hell, it’s not terrible it’s just incredibly mediocre like well the White Sox
He has never had a clue since day one on how to cultivate and grow a fanbase with this being just the latest example. Add the Cubbies on the other side of town and today you have a fanbase on life support.
It was terrible when it opened and the “beautification” efforts in the mid-2000’s turned it from terrible to meh, which relative to most other MLB stadiums today is tantamount to saying it’s terrible.
It's a new era of baseball where small ball and vibes are back in high demand. #RIPSpreadSheetBaseball #Nerds
I remember a time when the Tigers had the #1 pick in the draft that year and took a different Rice player who sucked and killed his career when he got hurt throwing an octopus.
I knew both Matt and Lance well. Matt also liked to throw couches apparently and threw one off the 5th or 6th floor balcony of a dorm at one point, pretty fortunate nobody was below when it happened. I think he also got in trouble once in the minors getting a nice amount of weed delivered to his place. Some of my buddies saw him a year or two ago, need to find out how he’s doing these days.
Who knew trading Mark Canha meant a sure sign of a fire sale. Nothing in the way they have operated under Attanasio would suggest they are going to tear things down. National media is always wrong when predicting how the Brewers will operate, and the Athletic is pretty much the New York Times sports page at this point (especially baseball coverage) and it feels more like that is just reporting what New York teams hope they do
Is Lincecum a HOFer? Feel like his peak was short, but damn he was elite. And he should get in just for being such a small guy and throwing straight cheese
Ok you're right. It was really just a four-year run https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/linceti01.shtml
