Both seasons in NY. I remember you and me going back and forth about that forever back in 09/10 and me then hating him for making me look bad by going from a top 5ish pitcher in 09 to dumpster fire in 10.
Pettitte having more career fWar than Glavine, CC, and Halladay makes me feel better about homering up for him.
he was one of the ultimate "his ERA isn't the best but he gets tons of Ks" guys in fantasy baseball when I was in middle school little did I know there would be a website later where that profile would translate to "This guy is one of the best pitchers in baseball"
he certainly helped illustrate the absolute basement level of player performance so in that sense you are correct
it just makes it all that much more impressive that Andruw Jones put up -1.1 fWAR in just 75 games immediately after signing a 2 year 36M contract and showing up 20 lbs overweight. We were robbed of much more history.
Love Vazquez but he was a quality innings eater, not a HOF. A great 3rd starter with good longetivity, but he was never even an ace. Weird nomination.
I think the numbers i ran are for 1994-2023, so 30 seasons. Maddux had some seasons prior to that and those made his lifetime higher. It shows him with 224 wins, he won 355.
If Hal let's Soto walk after their first trip to the Series in 15 year, woo boy. They just can't do that, just can't. There's no excuses.
I loved him very much as an Expo and he was our #1 starter, but a contender would hopefully have 2 better starters than him. He threw a lot of innings and struck out quite a bit for 13 years so WARs piled up. Look at his ERA+, his WHIP.
