Fun little fact: Former Seahawks/Vikings TE Carlester Crumpler Jr, drafted in 1994, has a younger brother in this class. Tracking as a sun belt/AAC type player. Alge, drafted in 2001, is another of their brothers. https://247sports.com/player/isaiah-crumpler-46117529/
I know jack shit about the kid, but our program is now run by a bunch of alumni from that school. to quote the old guy from Jurassic park, they will spare no expense on an elite recruit from that school.
<insert Oregon, Miami, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, Louisville, Texas A&M, Florida State, USC, Tennessee>
His brother started at LT for UF for the past two seasons but know idea if that actually matters to Eddy. Sammy Watkins is forever etched in my mind when it comes to recruiting a younger brother of a Gator player.
shiiiiit, he's a head coach next season somewhere woulda been this year if GT didn't fumble the Willie Fritz hire
You went into the south and took 3 of the top 10 WR's in the country. Your NIL works when it wants too IMO.
The best recruiter in college football pumping out NFL WR’s went south and took 3 of the top 10 WR’s. Let’s not get things twisted here.
Yeah, we just didn't want to sign a defensive end or running back this year. An apprehension to give up-front NIL inducements played no part in that, I'm sure.
When it's a position Ohio St produces kids at it's because they love Ohio St. When they lose recruits to other teams that have similar situations at other positions it's NIL.
Not a single Ohio State fan is saying that, you’re purposely being obtuse. We’re able to get top WR’s and QB’s because we’ve proven they’ll put up video game numbers and go in the first round of the draft. When we’re dealing with positions we aren’t doing that at, or dealing with positions that have lazy recruiters, you have to supplement with NIL. For some reason our brain trust has their head buried in the sand on the matter. Our NIL collectives are an unorganized mess, and our big donors are hesitant to join in. Why do you view us saying you guys use NIL as a negative? It’s not. It’s us saying you’re kicking our ass in a 100% legal way. I’m infinitely jealous of how your program and others are handling it, and wish we’d wake the hell up before it’s too late. We have two open tackle spots and can’t even get a sniff from group of five guys, even though they’re basically guaranteeing them a starting spot at a top 5 program.
Its not a negative to say we have our shit in order. Youre just leaving out the part where we do this but for every other position. So its just lazy to say a kid passed on Ohio State for Georgia because of dollars. Esp when said recruit is in our recruiting footprint and not yours. I think Ohio State's bigger problem is that they are in a recruiting footprint that has steadily declined in producing blue chip players...which is causing yall to fight uphill recruitments more often than not. NIL is the great equalizer to this problem; or was supposed to be.
Why are you making this about Georgia? It’s about NIL. 20 schools were mentioned and you all immediately jumped to “WHY ARE YOU SAYING KIDS ARE GOING TO GEORGIA FOR THE MONEY!?!”.
Your mods love to blame every recruiting loss to us on money. The arguments you're making are at least adjacent to them.
Even though I understand you want more NIL funds to flow, y’all come across like Michigan fans complaining about Ohio State’s recruiting. Also nobody is going to pity a school crying about a top 5-6 recruiting class (although really much better when you consider average player rating). Some of us are starting Graham Mertz.
“Every loss” is such a straw man statement. You all beat us for guys like Bowles and Harris straight up. Nobody is claiming otherwise. That said, it’s asinine to pretend there aren’t recruitments where it‘s a factor when we’re neck-and-neck with a school offering a more structured package. School A: “Hey Damon Wilson, come to a top 5 school that gets you to the league, gives you the chance to play for championships and has a well-defined NIL program up front and down the road” School B: “Hey Damon Wilson, come to a top 5 school that gets you to the league, gives you the chance to play for championships. You should be able to make money off NIL once you’re here”
I think you're glossing over the differences in the schools. One does a far better job of developing the talent and is far closer to home.
I was responding to the post I quoted which made the schools seem identical except that we're paying. You're trying to play a bit of the hide the ball.
the weirdest part of his recruitment was he official visit for Tennessee game. Gets the Wiltfong crystal ball treatment. Then on Monday Ryan Day stretches the "bump" rule to the limit and suddenly Wiltfong changes course. Reeked of funny money. But we didnt say shit. Hell we couldnt even sign the best 2 players in our own state. It is what it is. But zero chance your staff is going after all of the exact same recruits and not playing the same game.
As a neutral third party observer, I don't think the Georgia contingent is the one that looks bad in this ongoing conversation
