Its less of a "stop scheduling cupcakes" thing and more of a "leave those games in September instead of 2nd to last week of the conference race" thing. Nobody wants to tune into New Mexico State @ A&M during the same week of Ohio State vs Penn State happening elsewhere in the country.
Again, why does it matter when you play that game? No one wants it in September any more than they want it in November. It’ll never happen, but if they were going to move some scheduling around, I’d love to see the ACC rivalry games played in mid to late October so that there’s a full conference slate on the final week. But that’ll never happen, and given the neutering of conference championship games, I really don’t feel as strongly about it as I previously did.
A) that's not the argument you were making. You literally were just finger wagging about FCS teams on the schedule. Patting yourself on the back because Texas plays La Monroe instead of an FCS school is entertaining. B) To slightly defend you, not playing all your OOC games in the first 4 weeks took some getting use to after Mizzou left the B12. Felt odd. But you'll get use to it.
The ramp up of interest that goes with every CFB season. Week 0-1 might have only 1 game the entire country cares about with a few more scheduled in week 2 etc then by the time October starts it ramps up to conference slate and November games should ALL matter, that's what sets CFB apart from every other sport in the first place. I'm seriously not understanding why anyone would defend a game that has 0 interest and 0 relevance in the last couple of weeks of conference races, leave that shit in the first month of the season. Or are y'all just so used to it at this point that a 45 point spread body bag game in between your 2 biggest rivals is just a norm?
This was mostly my question, I don't think I'll ever get used to it if we're forced to play Rice in November instead of September, games in November should matter every single week.
He cited playing FCS teams yesterday. Carolina was the only school. He could not have possibly been talking about another school. I realize he is a dumbass not addressing anything he said, but thats on him. He's not going to answer this.
Maybe we should all be scheduling the cupcake games in November. The thought of heading to the game to sit in the sun for a noon 95 degree game against Samford is definitely not in the same ballpark as a nice fall trip on a cool November day.
I was not accusing USC of bad scheduling. I think playing Clemson is good and you regularly play one of the Carolina teams
Im pretty sure we have it written into state law that we have to play each of our FCS teams once every few years.
This was my post I didn't bring up scheduling strength until someone brought up Texas' schedule first. I literally fucking answered in the posts right above yours.
This isn't a South Carolina criticism. Both Georgia and Tennessee playing a team they were like 40 point favorites that also has no implications to the conference over this deep into the season is lame af too.
UGA Texas Tennessee Carolina Mizzou aTm Florida LSU Vandy Auburn Oklahoma Ole Miss Bama Slaw Kentucky State Thanks, I hate it
This is the highest we've been on the Owsley power rankings since 2013. I'm fist pumping in my living room rn
i’ve only really enjoyed the michigan and florida wins felt like the offense was rolling without a hitch in those two games ou sucked and had zero playmakers so the defense feasted i trust our defense against anybody but our offense is so hit or miss
To your first point it’s always seemed like a weird point of contention. Like who puffs their chest out at playing someone theoretically ranked 80 compared to 125 or whatever?
Who do you guys think will win the Iron Bowl? The team with a QB that has more TDs, yards, less INTs and a higher QB rating, the clearly better running back, and the receiver with more yards receiving….or Bama?
