Chirping at the LSU crowd is good, apologize for making it about us but that same crowd applauded blatantly throwing at Cags head last year. They want to dish it out but they can't take it.
Yeah the pitcher that was chirping is a psycho in general so it was fun to watch, had no impact on the game
Never in a million years would I think we'd ever have a "decent" baseball team. Our field when I was there was literally bleachers behind home plate, and chain link fence around the entire field. 2 free standing dugout. Players had to change in their cars/bus/hotel And now we just played in back 2 back supers. Pretty surreal
This isn't "SEC SEC" but increasingly guys wanna go to college for 3 years and develop for various reasons, anecdotally from guys who played lower minor league ball (former hs classmates) it's fucking brutal. Particularly in the SEC the facilites are elite, you play in front of big crowds every weekend, and the competition is as good as it gets.
we cut the lead to 4 in the 9th. Runner on 2nd. 3-2 count. ball clear as day low and away and Lodise gets rung up as our 3 and 4 hole hitter due up
You mentioned it above LSU-Arkansas matchup in Omaha (2 big spenders), Tennessee is the other big NIL spender in the mix and obviously Arkansas beat them to get there.
MLB teams are drafting more college players to. It's cheaper for bonuses, less risky, and college players get through the minors much quicker
Did UNC and FSU win? . @cwsshotboard-2.bsky.social, brace yourself docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dewEjTYfm_WSm_nw508OZKvLKDUSUMHzbQw3UW2Ce_Y/edit?usp=sharing— Paul Hendrix (@apaulo11.bsky.social) 2025-06-09T04:50:31.122Z
Yeah depends on circumstances, they're super wary about high school pitchers the bust rate is probably higher than 5 star qbs. devine I mentioned it above and can't remember specifics but everything I was told about lower minor league baseball is miserable. It's a combo of shit food, ramshackle buses, fleabag motels, etc. We spent $65 million on a new ballpark for a reason just keeping up with the joneses, previously we had the worst facilites in the SEC.
Yea, you're on buses, i think at the lower levels you're with a host family and until you get to AA or AAA you're playing in small towns. Doesn't seem like fun Plus, if you're an 18-19 year old kid, wtf do you do at night while other guys go out?
work on your game to get called up or if you're someone I know. you get caught stealing snacks on camera and deny it till they have no other choice but to let you go
Yep compared to being on a college campus with tens of thousands of girls, not a bad option. Think it was a few years ago a guy who played at UNC tweeted something positive about college baseball when regionals began and got different reactions, notably positive ones included life experiences, memories, etc. We had a guy (Karston Whitsen) who turned down a few million in the early 2010s to pitch in college, didn't work out due to arm issues but he's said repeatedly he'd do the same thing.
You know Ruben Rivera? He's known for the 2 below things https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2002/0312/1349875.html
Yea, if I was offered 1mil+ idk if I could turn that down. That's life changing and there's a real risk of injury or not developing. Not sure i could turn that down
or you could easily make 500k over 3-4 years if your'e above avg and a mil or more over the same time frame going to college
If you get drafted in the first couple rounds you are getting 2-3 Mill signing bonus. College NIL helps but I don’t you are getting anywhere close that in year 1 for anybody.
Relatively few guys are getting drafted in the first couple of rounds out of HS. Even fewer are pitchers. The NIL impact is guys drafted in rounds 3-10 aren’t going pro like they used to
That and Slot pay in MLB draft helps the college game a bunch. HS guys used to be drafted in 20 plus rounds and still get 1 million bonus not to go to college if the MLB team thought they could be high future picks.
I planned on going to opening weekend but not sure now. Still exhausted from this weekend didn't get home until 10:30 last night If I do go I will not be participating in jello shot contest, corporations ruined it the year Ole Miss won it all.
