Wow, I wonder if he gets dropped after Mexico This also affects their deal with Lawson, he becomes a free agent if he doesn't have a seat
Everything KMag said about Checo and F1 in his autobiography is turning out to be true in this situation. Checo is immortal.
Carlos Slim ponying up. Plus Checo sells a lot of merch. I've read that RB sells the most merch and Checo outsells Max. Mexico had a 300% increase in sales https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.c...9/formula-one-fanatics-merchandise-sales.aspx
James Vowles has rubbished a report that there’s a clause in Carlos Sainz’s Williams deal that allows him to leave, even before his first laps in 2025, if Mercedes or Red Bull come knocking. After six months of speculation about his next F1 team, prompted by Ferrari’s decision not to renew his contract in favour of signing Lewis Hamilton, Sainz announced on Monday he’d been joining Williams next season. Declaring Williams is “the right place” to continue his F1 journey, the three-time grand prix winner added: “The ultimate goal of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the front of the grid, is a challenge that I embrace with excitement and positivity. “I am convinced that this team has all the right ingredients to make history again and starting on January 1 I will give my absolute best to drive Williams forward alongside every single member of the team.” There was, however, a question mark over that January 1 date. According to F1-Insider.com, Sainz’s “€10 million” Williams deal came with a special clause in the contract that meant he may never race for Williams. ‘Above all,’ claimed the publication, ‘his contract is said to contain a clause that allows him not to start his job at Williams at all or to quit if the opportunity arises to move to Mercedes or Red Bull in 2025.’
Very interesting thread on some rules updates mid season. Will be interesting to see if any teams were benefiting from this braking system or if it’s just closing a loop hole
It’s interesting, but I think a bit skewed when Piastri taking out Leclercs front wing on lap 1 of Austria changes his entire data set. Seeing the 1-3 place changes on the first lap is more interesting because it’s good/bad racing vs just a crash.
The implosion at red bull is super funny. Maybe letting assholes run the show isn't a great leadership plan?
That is just the natural order of things. Top teams have players and coaches poached from rivals, in every sport. Having an asshole at the top, certainly contributes though.
If you’re talking about Horner, he has been there since the teams inception and guided them to multiple WDC and WCC. He may be a asshole/slimeball but he does have a solid TP resume
How hilarious would it be if Mercedes signed antonelli and then max decided to join and it left George without a seat
I think the cost cap is also playing a factor in the movement out of redbull. They can’t give everyone a raise to keep them happy. And they have the best team so naturally teams will want to poach them first. Ferrari lost some guys early in the regulation era. They have since nabbed a few really good additions from Mercedes and Redbull. I think we’re going to see a lot of factory members move as long as the cost cap is in place.
Are we all in agreement that Checo is fired after the Singapore GP? The guys on the Race podcast seemed to indicate that he's basically been given a small window to get back in form or they will replace him given there is a large break from Singapore to the USGP
Isn’t Lawson free to go to another team if he doesn’t have a seat at RB? Would be crazy to sacrifice that for Checo even if Slims money leaves
Lawson needs a seat by 2025 or he’s leaving. Ricciardo prob goes to Red Bull next year and Lawson takes his place. I still think it might happen this year.
One of the reasons making the Twitter rounds yesterday was Owners and FIA had told/asked RB to reconsider due to worry about Mexico/South American interest in F1 and specifically Mexico GP Since I'm new to F1, what the fuck do we do
