LANNNNDOO!!! HELL YEAH!! No clue what someone's expectations are if they think that's a lame or boring race. The entire race lived under rain, or the threat of rain...a wet track that was drying then late rain again. That would have been hell to drive. Plenty of cars in the wall, no one hurt, different strategies, lots of pit stops, great podium = awesome first race!
Watching it live late at night with an hour of the race being either aborted stop or safety car laps was not thrilling. I can understand it would be more exciting if you got to fast forward those parts.
Agree with others, the race itself was fun but the length of yellows bc of how ping it took them to move cars and debris made the race drag on.
There were also only two competitive cars at the front and for most of the race they weren’t even allowed to race each other
This makes sense. It is great being able to fast forward thru safety car laps of course the first safety car had 2 crashes alone during it lol
Beggars can't be choosers. That's double the amount of competitive cars at the front compared to most races over the past decade
The track itself stinks for overtakes in general. When you add the rain people we’re not going to risk going off line to make a pass. So the race was very boring. I don’t enjoy watching cars crash. This isn’t nascar. Add to that the very slow change over time for the officials to clear off those crashed cars and we basically watched these cars follow the leader for 2 plus hours. The only entertaining moment in the race for me is when the tack dried off and the McLarens passed the back markers and we told they could race. At that point Lando dusted Oscar. McLaren is going to run away with both titles this year. They have found the ultimate sweet spot of warming its tires quickly and being able to go as long on them as any team without performance drop off. Max, Charls probably can stick with the McLarens on single lap pace (Qualifying) but once these races start… tire performance will drop off and it’s over. We save it happen to Max and Charls in stint one.
I’m not expecting Ferrari to be good on one lap pace. It wasn’t last year and doesn’t seem to have improved.
Not a huge Lando or McClaren fan but now I'm all in on them running away with it to see Max fans head explode weekly.
seems like several seats are already warm. Who will be the 1st to get replaced? Jack is probably the most at risk. Helmut being Helmut punting Liam, esp. if Yuki smashes him weekly would be possible too. What is Ollie keeps crashing his Haas?
Lawson is gonna get smoked trying to drive a car that has to be tuned to Max in order to be competitive.
it’s only one 1 race but it feels like this total car build wasn’t with 2025 in mind but rather 2026. We shall see
The Race is good if you like the technical stuff but half the time i zone out with what they're saying because i'm not an engineer and can't follow. feel like there's better podcasts out there for casual fans that just like the storylines, race incidents, etc. but they know their stuff for sure if you want to get into the nitty gritty.
The F1 Nation podcast is good for what you’re talking about or the BBC Checkered Flag Podcast Beyond the Grid is good if you want long form interviews with driver, team principals and other F1 related people
I listened to them for a long time going back to WTF1. They are a fun listen if you’re looking for the feeling of just talking F1 with friends. They won’t give you any expert insight but it’s good banter
It's a shitty narrative the media uses against any up and coming talent against Max. They used it with Charls and now Lando... This is F1 and you win because of the car in every season.
It’s always the car. The top drivers can always go fast and they make minimal mistakes. The car is what separates them.
This seems most accurate. All the F1 drivers are fast - the elite drivers, like Max & prime Lewis, just don’t make mistakes
I don’t really even like Max, but among all the impressive things he’s done, a year or two ago he drove 40 laps on hards mid race and other than his out lap, his lap times were within like .3 seconds of each other. Passing cars, turns, none of it mattered. Not a single mistake or compromise.
Eddie Jordan died. Kinda nuts, I've seen his podcast recently on several occasions with David Coulthard. Didnt seem close to death or ill.
Williams might have preferred him to Logan last year, at least from a budgetary cost-cap point of view
