Tons of overtakes on a track that usually doesn’t have any. Fun race despite the poor safety car timings
I stuck with Mercedes... felt disingenuous to lean into my Oscar love while Mclaren have the fastest car
Yeah alright, just blew it Oscar Piastri, McLaren "Just braked too early, it was a good move by Max as well. Disappointing obviously, and then we made a few wrong calls after that. Not our best Sunday, lots to look at and review after that one. We'll see what we can do a bit better. "It was tricky, the VSC was perfectly timed for Max and Lando, and I had used both my tyres at that point so it made my last race start tricky, I didn't have enough grip so third it is."
Oscar hit the brakes too early in turn 1, Max made him pay & got the clean air... the rest was on the team. Oscar getting P3 vs P2 was on them, not him - keep in mind, he did the "impossible" & passed like 12 cars on the day.
Yeah but to be fair, turn 1 alone would have been enough to kill Norris (who seems shit from pole often enough so maybe it’d have been fair criticism)
pretty annoying though that races are often decided by turn 1. i get its a hard problem to solve but just annoying as a fan.
Oscar was the one who wanted to pit early. He got on the radio and said he couldn’t make the first tire window.
Agree. I said it earlier, but clean air is such a turbo button. Idk how they fix it but it sucks as a fan. The racing elsewhere on the track was great but the leader just drives off.
people always say that but if overtaking was easy the fastest car every race would just dart to the front and you’d have every season with the same winner like when max won every race it being so hard to overtake is what lets the driver skill actually make a difference
Pretty shitty they forced Charls to give up that slot. He has the driving line. Being an idiot and trying to over take on the outside shouldn’t be rewarded.
The team has shit the bed this season… they honestly should’ve be finishing 1-2 every race. RB seems to improved some areas and Spain is around the corner so those super flex wings will impact McLaren the most. Media is really giving the drivers and team a huge pass.
Oscar has earned some grace making a mistake into turn 1. Lando burned all his reserves ages ago. That’s the difference. If Oscar makes a habit of doing that, I’ll shit all over him the same way as lando.
i know this is old but zac brown seems like such a cool guy. wish he wasn't a trumper because his story is incredible and he'd be easy to root for.
Lots of good action today. So glad we are dumping a classic track so we can race in parking lots and the Middle East.
Liberty could give zero fucks about history... They can't make money on TV rights so they need to do it by selling the schedule to the highest bidder. It's a shame.
I also like the tracks that have gravel/grass just off the racing surface instead of paved areas that don't penalize bailouts.
Both Redbull and McLaren have said that Imola was a case of McLaren being slower than normal vs Redbull taking a step forward but with all these changes it’s clear that McLaren are in the sight lines
Ah yes, the big heap of carbon fiber labeled McLaren tire cooling bodywork piled outside of the Imola garage is purely coincidental
Having a wider setup window for Red Bull should help payoff on Sundays. Hopefully the gap closes down
Also we saw how bad the Merc race pace was this weekend once they introduced a stiffer rear wing. Just wait til McLaren has to do the same. Go ahead and take all the Max WDC odds you can get right now
so do we know what this disney f1 collab is yet? if i can get an f1 experience at disney springs i'd be so happy...
