well that's the risk but at 33 I think he can manage that. plus the flexibility of being a FA in three years (again, not even counting opt-outs)
Never heard of this Bregman guy in our system we’re letting loose but I wish the best for the young man.
depends on other roster moves/how some of the other prospects end up shaking out guessing theyll still focus on 2b for now with a hopeful 2026 infield of bregman-mayer-campbell-casas (or devers if they trade casas)
if anyone is interested in a highly subsidized japanese lefty dh one should be on the market towards the end of spring training
It was probably a joke but it was saying Rome’s Twitter got suspended after breaking the news. There was a pic of it saying suspended.
He has always hit pretty well in Boston at least. Plus, good for him to be back with Cora ;) Of the reported finalists, this seems like the best spot for him, even if his glove would be better at 3B than 2B
Given Boston's revenue and what they've spent in recent years, I have a tough time seeing a scenario where 3/$120 hurts them. Say it was 3/$90, they've hoarded way more cash than that difference in the post Mookie years. Now, not sure if this puts them in a luxury tax situation where there is a compounding factor.
Eno said in passing last week that a short term pillow deal would never have been in Detroit because of park factors.
Boston wasn’t going to get a better return than Bregman likely gives them for $120 million over the next 3 years. Seems like a good deal.
I do not accept this slander of one of my first baseball heroes, Mickey Tettleton. The metrics are clearly bad.
I always ended up with Billy Ashley on my team when playing Ken Griffey baseball in the N64. The guy crushed HRs on that game.
Was not expecting to see this on my timeline when i logged on this morning ;) Spoiler: what you doin' Mike?!?!
But as far as I know they weren’t one of the teams looking at him last Saturday so imagine they came to him some point this week.
For some reason I thought he was under contract with the Astros for one more year, sad to see him go, was excited they brought him back and bummed he got hurt again. The Astros have had a great playoff run over the last decade, but this double play has always been one of my favorite plays during the run for some reason, maybe in part because I always remember where we were for it (watching it on an October Friday night with some of my best friends from HS at one of their bay houses in Rockport, TX). Good luck to Kendall and hope stays healthy and has some solid success in AZ this season, not a bad place to live ;)
That video is one of the top 5 plays for me that his made. He loved the Astros and so did we. Was happy he got the opportunity he did twice with y’all.
I was supervising on nights watching that game on a TV that was suppose to be used to see all the patients in the ER. After the strike em out thrown em out I jumped on the desk and took my shirt off like a lunatic.
Fun with math. The Marlins have the lowest payroll in the majors at 47 million. 7 players are making over 1 million dollars (3 position players and 4 pitchers) 2 players are making over 5 million dollars (1 position player and 1 pitcher) One of those players is Avi Garcia who is making 12 million dollars and is a free agent who couldn't even get a non-roster invitee spot. Cal Quantrill at 3.5 million dollars is the Marlins 3rd highst paid player and the marquee FA signing this year. The Marlins active player salary for this year is 31 million dollars. (edit I got this wrong) Players making more than the entire team include: Ohtani: $70 million Soto: 61.875 million Wheeler: 42 million Judge: 40 million Bregman: 40 million deGrom: 40 million Rendon (lmao): 38.6 million Correa: 37.3 million Trout: 37.1 million Snell: 36.4 million Cole: 36.4 million Burnes: 35 million Lindor: 34.1 million Seager 32.5 million Altuve 32.5 million Glasnow: 32.5 million Stantion 32 million Arenado: 32 million Teams with multiple players making more than the entire active payroll Dodgers: 3 Yankees: 3 Rangers: 2 Mets: 2 Angels: 2 The roster has been stripped to the studs and the prospect pool ranks in the late teens/early 20s depending on which site you look at. And people wonder why baseball continues to fail in south florida.
This is also correct. As soon as Alcantara proves he is healthy, he's the next to go which will take the Active payroll down to 14 million.
the marlins aren't a baseball team, they're a thought experiment as to how bad a team can be between random championships and still keep fans
If the thought expirment requires any number higher than zero, they are still alive and kicking. But anything other than that. It's real bad. I honestly feel bad for Marlins twitter. It's a tiny subset of mostly kids in or just out of college who delusionally think this team has a prayer of being competitve.
