this is why those red sox-mariners trade rumors were so preposterous as if those two all talk no action front offices would ever get remotely close to actually making a deal
The Times of India already had the story. Congrats! https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...from-detroit-tigers/articleshow/117924353.cms Spoiler
Good read, crazy that it's more detrimental to hitting than Coors is beneficial. I remember hearing in the past how guys hate the batters eye there.
holy shit Put it this way: Eight Mariners pitchers threw at least 20 innings both home and away, and all eight of them had higher strikeout rates at home – none more an outlier than reliever Andrés Muñoz, who had this absolutely hilarious home/road split: Home, 2024: 0.28 ERA, 43% K, .080/.155/.120 Road, 2024: 4.28 ERA, 25% K, .225/.352/.392
We're 2 months into Bregman watch and I still can't figure out if I want the Tigers to sign him or not. I would be all in if it was 4 years but 6 years seems like way too many given his recent trends. But i also know that I will talk myself into him completely if he signs with the Tigers.
As a tigers fan who has seen lots of losing, if he was good for 1-4 years would you care at all about 5 and 6?
If we weren't poor the Brewers should sign Bregman. It'd be nice to get a Yasmani Geandal pillow contract out of him but there are big market teams that aren't spending and need him so they wouldn't even win in that setting.
I have significant doubts that he's going to be good for 4 years. I don't feel great about what he's going to be next year, for that matter.
I feel the same. Cubs latest offer supposedly is 4 years at $140 million with opt outs after each year. I would be ok with that as the only money we have committed after 2026 is Dansby’s contract and that’s it. So if he starts to decline it shouldn’t hurt spending too much.
The reporting on this stuff is all over the place. I've seen stuff that says Detroit is offering 6/$180M, and then other stuff that they haven't offered more than 4 years. That's a massive AAV for him on 4 years if that's accurate, but I would still feel better about it than something at 6 years and $150M+.
Yeah, if anyone is going to give him more than 4 years, I’d rather it not be the Cubs. If we signed him I’d feel as confident that he’d put up a 5 WAR season as I do that he’d put up a 2.5 WAR season next year.
I would be curious to see the baseball-y people explain why he doesn't hit LHP well any more. He used to crush LHP the first half of his career in Houston, and he's had reverse splits for three straight years. Especially on the road where he can't just yank something 300 feet for a HR every once in a while. Because if that is fixable, I would be more invested because Detroit is so LH dominant and really needs someone to hit between Greene/Carpenter to protect them.
Poor Devine, glad he got so much joy being a lifelong Man City fan I’m being a cunt, not loving the Os offseason at all.
Blessed with a once in a generation core of talent and y’all seem determined to squander it by being cheap asses. Would love to know why Rubenstein bought the team if he wasn’t going to do anything with it.
He deleted evidence and willingly let the friend use the account I don’t think it’s fair to compare his situation to Ohtani. He’s fired but can apply for reinstatement next year.

On the flip side, what better proof is there that Hoberg was corrupt than he called the strike zone accurately? What bettor could possibly being expecting accurate umpiring when choosing their wager?
I just want this to be over. I've been on Bregman Watch for 2 months with people acting like it could happen any day.
I heard a theory that no teams have offered him a 6 year deal and they’re just trying to create a made up market. I enjoy that theory a lot.
