in a way, refusing with that much left makes me respect it more; he doesn’t want to look like a fucking idiot for confidence/performance reasons, not for financial ones
Agree with this comment I saw on Reddit: I don’t think Devers comes off well here. Same time, the Red Sox were weirdly insistent in the preseason that there was no circumstance in which he would play defense ever again. He was the DH, period. So I understand why Devers is mad that they basically told him that he was such an awful defender that even an injury wouldn’t result in being able to ever play the field, and then two months later there’s an injury and it turns out they were OK with him playing the field
Tigers and Rockies first pitch was last night at 8:40. They are close to completing a 3 game series in 24 hours. The Tigers also have 29 runs the last 24 hours

Kudos to the Rockies PR team for not avoiding the elephant in the room in the postgame notes: "the Rockies’ 31 losses through their first 37 decisions are tied with the 1988 Orioles for the most in the Modern Era."— Eric Stephen (@ericstephen.bsky.social) 2025-05-09T01:28:39.808Z
I've been a hater of this guy for years so a sick part of me really enjoyed this. funny thing is, my biggest gripe with him is he routinely calls no doubt home runs like they're routine fly balls so this was a complete departure for him. either way, being a baseball play by play guy and not being able to read a fly ball is just ridiculous.
Chris Rose thinks the Red Sox will trade Rafael Devers— Talkin’ Baseball (Bot) (@talkinbaseballbot.bsky.social) 2025-05-09T17:37:05.000Z
Curious to see what sort of turnout the Mariners get against Toronto. Normally there’s a huge Blue Jay contingency that shows up.
The Red Sox should definitely just have yoshida play first right? That seems to be the obvious fix in the short term.
We can offer up a clubhouse leader with tons of experience and 38.4 career WAR. Prior experience in Boston so he'd adjust quickly since he's well aquainted with the area. He's willing to play 3rd and 1st and you won't hear a complaint from him. Justin Turner for Devers really seems like the Red Sox would win that trade.
Ump just blew a clear as day foul ball calling it a ball and then wants to yell at Skubal for questioning him on it. What a joke Is that not a reviewable call? Foul tip or because it's ball/ strike it's not.
name something better than watching baseball with a drink on a 75 degree evening with the windows open. you can’t
What a heads up play by Gleyber Torres, gets out at 2nd on a close play and then still throws over to get runner on 3rd into a run down to get "4th out" just in case challenge overturned the play at second there was still 3 outs.
