I was about to ask how I should feel about this. Hopefully the make the smart move and trade out of the 1.1 pick and don’t force themselves into drafting a QB this year.
I can't imagine the body that belongs to that head is properly proportioned Man has overcome many challenges undoubtedly
Schefter said on ESPN that the current list of 6 guys for Dallas are (in no order)... Kellen Moore Robert Saleh Leslie Frazier Jason Witten Deion Sanders Anthony Lynn
I think Deion would be a terrible hire, but putting Witten on Deion's level is rather disrespectful to the guy who has at least coached above the HS level.
I laughed out loud when I saw them put up that list. Gotta be the worst list of possible coach hires I’ve ever seen.
I get why the Raiders would be appealing to him based on what he's coming from in Detroit, but I think it's a mistake if they hire Lance Newmark because he's someone Ben knows. I think that puts too much pressure on him to be really involved in both jobs and he's not experienced enough for that.
Glenn is interviewing in person this week with the Jets and New Orleans. Anthony Weaver and Mike Kafka also interviewing in person in New Orleans this week.
Do the lions have someone internal ready to replace Johnson? Or will they go for an outside hire? when the bills lost Daboll, they went internal with Dorsey. Which led to mixed results.
They have guys who have interviewed with other teams. I think the presumption is that Tanner Engstrand is the most likely candidate. He's the "passing game coordinator" and was a Jim Harbaugh guy at both San Diego and then as an analyst at Michigan for a year. Scottie Montgomery is the RB coach/AHC and will also get a look, as will Hank Fraley (OL coach) and maybe Brunell (QB coach). I would guess they'll promote one of those guys over going outside. The other question is whether Johnson and/or Glenn take someone from the staff to be OC there. I would bet on Johnson doing that since he'll call plays, anyway. Could also see a defensive coach from the staff following as one of their DCs, although I'm not sure that's a great idea for either of them.
If Johnson makes the dumb choice to go to Jax then obviously Brunell will follow, at least that’s the rumor.
I have kind of figured Johnson would take either Brunell or Fraley as OC, which would be annoying for us. Fraley also interviewed for the OC job in Seattle. Not sure if he has a real chance of getting that or not.
Seems like Flores' realistic options are NO and NYJ, both of whom seem to favor Glenn over him at the moment,
just for the sake of sanity, i'm glad las vegas didn't hire him would've made no sense for the top candidate to head there
I said this in the team thread, no clue if Johnson will be a good head coach. Its nice to have made the correct hire and not come off like a foolish franchise for the first time in a long time.
I can’t tell if my brain is just completely broken from decades of emotional abuse, but I’m starting to feel like Saleh is not the worst idea for Jax.
