NFL media can't stand when NFL coaches go to college. They can't help themselves from writing this stuff.
It's a college coaching job. They're all specifically set up for them to be able to leave whenever they want for any job.
There were reports last week that Jerry already decided he’s keeping McCarthy. He’s just sticking to his strategy of waiting till the last possible second to get a new deal done so sports shows keep talking about the Cowboys.
I think it's noteworthy in terms of the timing of when those dates are, but most coaches have language like that in their deals. In terms of today's rumor about teams talking to him...
I think it was Nick Wright who said it first but Andy Reid is probably a reason he didn’t fight for an NFL job. You know he wants Shula’s record, especially after their history. Knowing Reid will pass him in a few years takes some of that shine though.
Add in over reliance on his buddies and stubborn (refused to hire a DC the first couple years and tried to be HC and DC) and I think you are spot on. Rumors are that he advised against hiring Ran because he wanted full control but take that with a grain of salt given the mess the Titans are right now.
With a 12-5 record, it’s not like they ran all over the conference. Then went one and done in the playoffs. We all know you have a hate hard on for everything about the Titans but a little context probably helps.
I don't follow stuff like this. Why does the NFL press give a shit? I hate Jerry Jones, but feel sorry for Jax fans.
After living through the Harbaugh thing for 9 years, many in NFL media just kind of always present this stuff like the only reason anyone is coaching in college is because the NFL doesn't want them, and they would all crawl to get back to the NFL if the opportunity arose. And, granted, Harbaugh eventually got back to that point after 2020, but for the first half of his run it was 4-5 stories a year from people like Florio and some ESPN/NFL Network types who just always portrayed it like Jim was stuck in college and would take any NFL job. And they're going to do the same with Belichick for as long as he's at UNC.
Every team will fire their GM before meeting with Ben Johnson except for Jacksonville, who will offer the opportunity to fire Baalke himself over Zoom
I don't remember specifics but I thought Tice was always shitting on Telesco. Or maybe it was his qualifications coming in and general direction of the franchise as a whole
Shocked Pete still wants to do it at his age but that’s a great fucking hire if they do it. They need a culture change there and Pete knows how to hire the right people for a young developing qb Hell look what he did for Geno
