firmly of the belief that if you spent enough time on onside kicks you could become incredibly good at them. the issue is they don't do that and so it ends up as it does. I don't think there's remotely as much luck involved as it seems but unless you're gonna be like that dude in Arkansas HS ball where every kick is onsides, an NFL team doesn't have the time to spend getting so good at the play that it makes doing it often truly worthwhile.
NFL rules prohibit most of what that dude in Arkansas did. the kickers themselves practice them a ton, and have unbelievable touch on them, however the current structure of an onside kick makes it incredibly difficult to pull off honestly, just give them a 4th and 15 conversion attempt from the -35
The Purdy deal is fine because once the 49ers realize he’s not good someone desperate like the falcons will trade for him anyways
The loser blood in the Bills organization runs deep from ownership to the HC. No wonder they can never beat the Chiefs
pretty sure they already have the votes to ban it and I highly doubt Lurie or Kelce are changing anyone's mind, so what's the point?
Guys it is a proposed rule change. Philly people acting like this an affront to humanity is hilarious. Edit: and it didn’t even pass. What drama queens
My favorite part of the tush push debate is how the people that want it banned come up with all these supposed reasons for banning it when we all know the reason is they're just mad the Eagles are too good at it. I'd respect it more if they just said that and didn't try run on with all this dumb bullshit about injury risk and whatever else. Just say you're mad
this is the part that bothers Philly people. the reasons are either paper thin or completely fabricated.
they are definitely not mad, it's just the Eagles being drama queens guys, don't put it in the newspaper that they are mad
My idea to replace the tush push is to sign an Olympic caliber high jumper and just have them vault way over everyone
Exactly. I don't know what Jalen Milroe can squat, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Seahawks develop a tush push package using him this season. Colts would probably do it with Anthony Richardson if he wasn't so paper thin soft.
This. Didn't have a strong opinion on the play being banned but the social media gloating is corny as shit.
Glad the rule didn't go through, but also, the refs need to do a better job of blowing the whistle when forward progress is stopped.
the Bills run the tush push the second most in the league. It would have been a negative for the team if performance-wise if it got banned. However, I didn't really give a shit what happened to the play. You either get to keep doing it, or you adapt. I guess the Bills can keep doing it, that's fine I don't like or give a shit about Terry Pegula, so if he is sad, that makes me happy. According to ESPN Research, the Bills and Eagles have combined to run 163 tush push plays over the past three years which is more than the other 30 teams combined. On those 163 plays, the Bills and Eagles achieved a first down or touchdown 87% of the time.
I think the rule should have gone back to what it was pre-2005 but I'm also glad it didn't because my team has a bunch of meatheads on it and definitely would have been penalized multiple times for pushing runners on non-tush push plays that would have also been outlawed.
they changed the rules https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...hat-limited-teams-from-not-appearing-on-show/ Making the playoffs for NFL franchises meant they could avoid being on HBO's "Hard Knocks" the following season. That won't be the case with the training camp edition anymore. At the NFL annual league meeting this week, playoff teams can now be featured on "Hard Knocks" in the next season. Per Sports Illustrated, these are the new rule changes that qualifies a team to appear on "Hard Knocks." Has not been featured on the Hard Knocks: Training Camp edition for the previous eight seasons (2017-2024). Does not have a first-year head coach. Is not exempt from from selection based on club participation in "Hard Knocks" or a similar access show prior to 2024 pursuant to parameters that existed at the time of such club's prior participation.
