these kids dont know what they're saying most have what like maybe 10 years of even knowing what football is
super interested to see how much basketball he plays. we might be seeing more multisport players with the new roster rules.
We’ve let football players be on the basketball roster before. They practice but never play. Whatever makes em happy I guess.
Wouldn’t surprise me if programs like Maryland offer to pay elite guys something under the table to be “committed” to them for a certain period during the recruiting cycle. Potentially helps boost actual recruiting, and maybe some of those others will stick.
Devin Carter to Auburn at the Navy game. Should be a big WR class for us again. I really liked the clips of Bubba Frazier I’ve seen from Savannah. We need CD Morgan too
Did #Georgia Bulldogs want this guy? His rankings seems pretty all over the place, but consistently between 35 and 120. He's possibly the highest ranked guy we've gotten from that State that I can remember and if his ranking holds true and someone decently high on UGA's board, the first player from that state we beat UGA for since like Derrick Brown. Never heard much about him until today
I want this guy. STRecruiting: South Carolina set to receive at least two visits from OT Micah Smith before a summer decision OT Micah Smith (6-6 315) of Vero Beach, FL is already highly acclaimed for a player just in his junior year of high school. Smith is so highly regarded that he was one of a select group of 2026 prospects to play in the Under Armour All-American Game earlier this month in Orlando. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley have their hooks deep into Smith. They have been recruiting him with vigor since last spring when he came in for a practice, and the Gamecocks are very much in the fight for a prospect who has had some of the nation’s top programs in pursuit. “The Gamecocks offered me when I went back up there last summer. Me and Coach Teasley had a great conversation with Coach Beamer, and they offered,” Smith said. “It felt like family. I’ve got family in South Carolina actually, in the Charleston area. They’ve been recruiting me heavy ever since they offered me. I really love the program. I’ve been there for a visit and a game (Missouri). The gameday atmosphere was incredible, so I really like South Carolina.” Smith is having coaches come through his school this month for meet and greets. He’s expecting Teasley down next week for a face to face. And he’s looking forward to getting back to Columbia for a spring practice and then an official visit in June. “The home feeling I get when I’m up there, it feels just like home,” Smith said. “I’m from Florida, but it feels like I’m at home when I’m at South Carolina. That’s what I really like about the program. And the criminal justice program is amazing. I went into the academic building, and it was amazing. They’ve got one of the best law schools.” Smith, who said he won’t make any junior day visits this month or next (“I like to go a spring practice and watch the coaches coach the players”), will also take in spring practices at Miami, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee. Along with the Gamecocks, Smith called those five his top schools. Smith has set an official visit to Miami for June 13th. He said USC, Ohio State and Tennessee will also get officials ahead of his decision which will come after the officials. There’s no favorite at this point among the five contenders.
Yeah, he committed super early so that’s expected. I think his relationship with our WR coach will make us hard to beat but odds say it’s going to be tough to hang onto a commitment for two years from a south Florida kid.
I remember hearing a few years ago he was higher thought of as a baseball player. Not sure if that's still the case.
Is this good business? USC drops LB commitment Rodney Colton South Carolina Tuesday night cut 2026 LB Rodney Colton (6-2 220) of Newnan, GA from its 2026 commitment list. Hale McGranahan of TheBigSpur reported the Gamecock staff decided Colton wasn’t serious about following through with his commitment. In an interview with Jordan Kaye of The State Tuesday night, Colton disputed that notion pointing out that he had been committed since the tenth grade (April 24, 2024) and had received about 20 offers since then while sticking with his commitment. However, Colton said linebackers coach Clayton White called him Tuesday night and expressed the opinion that he was not acting like a commitment but more like a free agent. Colton has continued to visit other programs since his commitment and plans a return visit to Tennessee this weekend according to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals. Colton also landed an offer from Missouri Tuesday night. He also met with Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding on Monday and with Mississippi State linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler on Tuesday. Colton’s subratction from the class leaves the Gamecocks with five commitments.
Article is a couple days old South Carolina to get one of the few spring visits to be taken by California QB Brady Smigiel Spoiler South Carolina coach Shane Beamer played a little golf with former Gamecock star Wesley Bryan last week in Palm Springs, CA. But birdies weren’t the only thing on his mind. Recruiting certainly was as well, and while in California, Beamer made the three-hour ride to Newbury Park for a meeting with QB Brady Smigiel (6-4 220), a Florida State commitment Beamer had just recently offered. Smigiel had known USC Director of Player Personnel Darren Uscher from when he worked at UCLA. His dad, Joe Smigiel, is the head coach at Newbury Park and a former offensive lineman at Arizona under legendary coach Dick Tomey. After Florida State coach Mike Norvell fired his offensive coordinator Alex Atkins and replaced him with Gus Malzahn, the Smigiels decided to check some other options and made the contact with Uscher. “Brady’s committed to Florida State but they made a couple of changes, and he just wants to make sure that he’s in the right place, and he wanted to make sure that he did that by checking out some other places,” Coach Smigiel said. “We were interested based on the fact Mike Shula was hired. He’s a pro-type guy and there’s some good pro aspects to their offense. That’s kind of where it started. The three of them watched film and they signed off on it.” After making the offer to Smigiel, Beamer followed up last week with his in-person visit at the school. “Obviously showed great interest in what he has with Brady and it’s just evolving as it goes,” Coach Smigiel said. “We’re going to take a trip out there this spring and watch what they do and let Brady be able to sit in the quarterback room and see what they do. He’s going to go back to Florida State and see what’s going on with them and probably take some other trips as well. That’s kind of where we’re at right now.” Along with USC and Florida State, the Smigiels plans to take spring visits to Washington, UCLA, Michigan and Michigan State. “He doesn’t mind traveling as far as where he’s going to go play. The fit is more important than the location,” Coach Smigiel said. “At the same time, he doesn’t love continuing going on a bunch of trips around the country. If he’s taking a trip, he’s serious about it. Those are the ones that have potential to where he’s going, but he hasn’t signed them up yet.” Coach Smigiel is hopeful these visits will give his son all in the insight he needs to make his most informed decision. “I think it’s good for everybody involved to make sure the fit is correct,” Coach Smigiel said. “That’s what he’s looking for, find the best fit for him as far as the beliefs of the coach and the beliefs of what they are doing on offense. I’m a head coach and we do a lot with accountability and culture and buying in. In today’s college football world, it’s hard to keep that good culture. Those are hard questions we brought up to Coach Beamer, and Coach Beamer answered them in a way that reminded me of a guy who coached me. I coach the same way that he coached me, and that was Dick Tomey at the University of Arizona. He’s obviously a very impressive coach and our meeting went really good.” For now, the commitment to Florida State, made on June 22nd, remains in place. “He has not decommitted from Florida State,” Coach Smigiel said. “The one thing I’ll tell you about my son is he originally wanted to go to a place and not have to open up his recruitment, hoping that things were consistent. As things change, I think as a player and as a staff, both sides need to figure out a fit that potentially could be beneficial for both sides.” Smigiel has had a meteoric rise in the land of quarterbacks. He was named Mr. Football in California this season after passing for 3521 yards and 49 touchdowns. That pushed his career totals to 11,222 yards and 147 yards. “I’m really proud of him because of the improvements that he made by dedicating himself to taking care of the football, and dedicating himself to being in the film room,” Coach Smigiel said. “We had a really good group. We won Division Two of the Southern Section, one of the top twenty divisions in the country. He had a nice supporting cast and a lot of guys that bought in. Obviously, he was the leader of the team and took what people gave us.” Smigiel is one of two quarterbacks Beamer and Shula have zeroed in on for the 2026 class. They have also offered Jared Curtis of Nashville and he has set an official visit with the Gamecocks for June. Cliffs: Beams grinding on recruiting trail
