Atkinson and Griffin are repped by David Mulugheta(Deshaun Watson's agent). Apparently he's a nightmare to deal with. There's an agent several of the Buford kids use who requires a formal NIL offer on the table to even get a visit. Recruiting is fun.
I think it ends up being a really delicate game the schools try to play. They know they can contractually fuck kids over if they’re not represented well. But then if it comes out, they look absolutely god awful publicly. So I think the play is basically “try to force the commitment with the contract, even though there’s no chance we actually hold the kid to it if push comes to shove”
Mulugheta repped Tee Higgins before he found someone else. He seems to be pretty terrible based on what I’ve heard.
It works both ways. Easier to keep a guy committed and to try and put a stop to visits later than to let them be uncommitted the whole way through. Franklin is the type that tells the kids to hold off until they are sure and almost encourages them to take more visits. He doesn’t have near as many decommits as some but he also gets burned sometimes when a kid that was a silent or on the verge of committing then visits elsewhere and we lose out. Maybe that kid eventually decommits anyways though. Changes prospect to prospect. I think commitments now post a bunch of OVs where some firmer numbers are discussed has a much better chance than any kid committing earlier than this OV period, obviously.
Fun story on the on3 boards, where Michigan has been trying to flip this guy from UGA and whoever the UGA people are there are saying Michigan offered him an insane amount of $$ while EJ Holland says Michigan did not. Allegedly going back and forth and I kind of want EJ to be right and for the kid to make this big play with a fake UM offer for laughs. https://247sports.com/player/brady-marchese-46149299/
you know im going to be honest - that was not what i expected to see when reading about a recruit causing a message board spat
Anytime you can spend millions of doll hairs on a three-star white wide receiver who has his own name tattooed on his bicep, you just have to do it.
I wouldn’t be shocked if EJ is right but we’d heard Michigan was trying for weeks now to flip him with a huge bag. Florida was trying to pay him to visit as well. We all wanted someone to flip him. Rule of thumb, most of the time if you’re recruiting the same WR as UGA you’re in bad shape.
I think Michigan really wanted him. I have some doubts that he was the guy they were willing to drop huge money for, but "huge bag" can also be relative when talking about someone of his ilk.
I was told it was double what UGA had on the table. We didn’t offer anymore. Our staff wanted to keep him but they had their number and didn’t budge. Tifwiw be theres no real way of verifying it.
I have no doubts he was telling UGA that. Holland is flat out saying he made it up to get more out of UGA. I don't know what is true and don't care. I just found the whole thing funny, as well as Wiltfong continuing to swing and miss at this shit.

With the world basically a flaming pile of dog shit, Rutgers recruiting has been a welcome distraction. Just landed a DL over Oklahoma
What would your tagline be for your Hayes Fawcett commit tweet if you were a highly sought after recruit
Branch is a good player and prospect and has as much or more potential IOL if DT wouldn’t work out for some reason.
To add to this, we also haven’t had money for very long- we had to wait over ten years for close to a full share of conference revenue and our AD was drowning in red ink prior to moving to the B1G.
I believe Buttgers has a bowl win more recently than Oklahoma as well. Oklahoma is quickly moving toward Nebraska of the last 20 years
Beat Miami 2 years ago in the pinstripe. Would have beat Kansas state in whatever bowl this past season if not for the pretty lady they have playing quarterback.
A random bowl win or loss is pretty irrelevant, no? Both Oklahoma and Nebraska are in better spots going forward.
Will be interesting to see who finishes higher in their conference standings this season, Rutgers or Oklahoma
I’d like to see one of you sons of bitches tell the pop tart to its face that non-playoff bowl games don’t matter.
I don't think it's the non-playoff piece that makes the other bowls less relevant for program standing. It's the fact that many of the bowl rosters don't look anything close to those of the recent or next regular season.
And wins only matter to fans of teams that won them. Congrats on your win against a team missing 90% of its draft eligible players and younger guys in the portal though.
I cared when we played Oregon a few years back and hated losing the way we did, WVU without Maye and UConn as a Mack era funeral, not so much non-playoff bowls can still be meaningful to fans but it all depends on getting lucky with an interesting match up and relative lack of opt outs
