There's still a chance. I'm fine lying in this bed that Loretta Lynch made. At least the spotlight is on them now. The governance is fucked though (small countries = large countries)
I mean I hate Trump but I'm all for throwing our weight around here a bit. Stop taking bribes or we'll keep coming for you.
I read a recent update that Morocco might not make it to the vote because of deficiencies in their bid. That gave me more hope.
I thought I read earlier it was confirmed that both bids will be part of the vote. I don't feel like finding the tweet again though.
Yeah, shoulda of kept scrolling through my timeline. He retweeted that tweet that I posted and hour ago, then about 20 mins later Wahl (as well as everyone else in the world) started tweeting that both bids WILL be in the vote.
Common sense would suggest that FIFA trying to pull the Moroccan bid at this late stage means there are seriously fatal flaws with it. So no way it isn't the run away winner.
Don’t know why anyone else would try to seriously challenge our bid. The only reason we weren’t awarded 18 or 22 was extreme corruption.
Their bid was the worse one of the bunch from what I remember, can’t find it now. Found ours and the only medium risk issues we had were: we weren’t guaranteeing them tax exempt status, needed to enact some legislation on a few items inrelation to legal issues, and travel times because the sites were spread out.
https://www.timeslive.co.za/sport/s...id-they-will-vote-for-in-2026-world-cup-race/ No clue how credible that source is but I’ve been seeing twitter rumblings that SA was leaning our way for a couple weeks. I think there’s like 13 other southern African countries that will vote in a block and follow SA’s lead so that would be a huge coup.
One thing I had not considered and saw Rog Bennet mention the other day was that we are naive in thinking that the US is the best fit for a World Cup because we have the infrastructure ready to host. FIFA wants the opposite. The money is in building that infrastructure in countries that don’t have it. See South Africa, Brazil, Qatar, etc. Edit: found the tweet
I chuckled “Hopefully FIFA can stand up and step in and say, ‘If we’re going to reward you, let’s look at everything and point out where you can fix certain things,’” Solo said. Her call for greater transparency from the USSF came after speaking at the London launch conference for the Foundation for Sports Integrity, which has one named official who would not disclose the source of funding for the group or who paid to hire lavish facilities at a Four Seasons hotel."
When will Hope Solo go away http://www.espn.com/soccer/fifa-wor...-should-not-vote-us-as-host-of-2026-world-cup
Solo said. “I want to see promotion-relegation in the NASL and the MLS." The NASL isn't even a league that's currently working haha
So we’ve got Concacaf, Conmebol, the South African voting bloc (10 votes), hopefully oceana follows Aus and NZ who support us. The rest of Africa will probably go Morocco, I bet UEFA goes Morocco. I’m thinking this whole thing goes down to who takes the majority of Asia and I have no confidence at all.
Also, the 4 US territories are allowed ti vote due to a FIFA ruling last week but news is coming out now that all 4 will abstain from voting on either bid.

A lot of the late night stories I’m seeing are saying that the United bid will make so much more money than Morocco that we’re going to get a lot of small country votes.
The Times of London reporting that weve secured 130 total votes. No clue how they’re getting that number or how connected they are.
