Enjoying this one tonight. It's not quite the story like the duke lacrosse one, but fun trip down memory lane. That Orlando Houston finals was the first one I really remember.
After that Orlando/Houston series there was supposed to be a one on one bball game between Shaq & Olajuwon sponsored by Taco Bell. Hakeem got hurt and the game never happened...would've paid several American dollars to see that game
I definitely wouldn't call it a good thing. At one point it felt like 30 for 30 was a must watch, regardless of the subject. Those days are long gone.
Nothing different. Shaq never played with another dominant Forward/Center for a reason. Penny was the correct choice for Orlando in that situation.
considering the last one they did was one of the best in the series, I think they're still capable of putting out quality programming. And the oj one coming in June is apparently the best they've ever done. And this wasn't great, but it was still enjoyable TV. All that said, this one does seem random. Not really sure what prompted this so I will agree with you there. Just saying I wouldn't say the fact that they're doing more and more documentaries means they can't put out quality productions going forward.
In terms of importance, what's the difference between the 90s Magic as a 30 for 30 topic, and the Reggie Miller/Knicks story?
They're doing like one a month. Outside of HBO or other places doing occasional sports stuff no one is really doing any sports documentaries. There's still a shitload of stuff out there that hasn't been tapped into. If you think it's not important to look back at untapped potential that could've won quite a few titles then you musta thought the Marcus Dupree one was a waste of time.
Fair enough, I'm just kinda shocked that people would have a problem with them unless they all turn to shit like the USC one. There's just so much material out there to cover, really wish HBO hadn't already a UNLY basketball documentary and limited it to one hour.
Really hope they do an in-depth look at the '86 Mets. That team was so dominant, pulled off two miracles in the NLCS and WS and was so filled with drunken drug addicts they defied logic being so dominant. Should have won in 87 and 88 but the drugs caught up to them. According to the book "The Bad Guys Won" the biggest douche on that team was Doug Sisk. Doug fucking Sisk. Plenty of assholes from Hernandez to Dykstra to Strawberry to McDowell...but Doug Sisk was apparently King Balloon Knot.
Awful Announcing @awfulannouncing 6m6 minutes ago ESPN developing a 30 For 30 documentary on the XFL http://dlvr.it/LHTT3m
I wish they'd do one on the early 90s Cowboys. If social media was around back then, I think half of that team would've been suspended at any given point in the season.

Those are both great, but they've also both been semi addressed in other 30 for 30s. Off the top of my head they could do one on: Young Tiger Horse racing The death of boxing Cuban baseball defections Hal Mumme/ air raid North Dakota State Prairie View's 100 game losing streak All blacks Lenny Dykstra 86 Mets
They had to push it back a bit to include new footage featuring Ric Flair talking about taking Halle Berry to Space Mountain, whooooooooo!
Still want to see one on the Braves-Padres brawl in 1984. The mother of all baseball fights. I'll bet those guys still hate each other. I think Donnie Moore and Pascual Perez are dead though.
Favorite Non-Detroit Tiger MLB player of all time up until the point I learned he was a piece of shit human being
Hal Mumme? No. Coach with a 10-22 SEC conference record and best D-1 season was 7-5 is not worthy. I don't really think many people would care much about topics like NDSU and Prairie View.
Although not specifically geared toward Bobby, you could do a retrospective of FSU football, as a whole, similar to how Corben did The U.
The problem is most of the compelling stories have been told. There are some still out there I'd like to see but I doubt you'd get truthful responses. I'd like to see one about Sosa/McGwire chasing Maris. I'd also like to see one about the Manti T'eo fake girlfriend thing too...but don't know if that would even fill up a full hour
McGwire/Sosa would be interesting, but it has to come years down the line when we stop pretending to care if athletes take steroids. That story needs honest coverage of PEDs.
