News England - Cesc Fabregas claims he has a gash on his leg which proves he too fell victim to his former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's violent conduct. The Arsenal captain has spoken out over Adebayor's dangerous play in last weekend's Barclays Premier League match between the latter's new club Manchester City and his old one at Eastlands last Saturday. "I think this is a red card here," said Fabregas, reportedly gesturing to his leg and claiming the injury was suffered in an Adebayor challenge studied by the Football Association on Thursday before they banned the City striker for three matches for stamping on Robin van Persie's head in the same match. - Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has branded rivals Manchester City ''cocky'' ahead of Sunday's eagerly-anticipated derby clash at Old Trafford. Ferguson hit out at his local rivals after their 100% start to the season and warned opposite number Mark Hughes he must win the Premier League title to justify his £200 million spending spree. 'The rivalry has gone up a notch in the last few months, with them signing all those players and then coming up with that advert and all their posters about Carlos Tevez. They've been a bit, how can I put it, cocky. Yes, a bit cocky. They've got seven centre forwards now, which is crazy, just amazing.'' - Emmanuel Adebayor has launched a staunch defence of the actions that saw him face two FA charges for his conduct against former club Arsenal. Adebayor, who admitted the charge of violent conduct, defended his actions with passion, telling the the Sun: "People talk about us as being football players and the money we earn, but just because we are fortunate it does not mean we need to take abuse. If you were to abuse a man in the street for over an hour he would react and it would be a worse reaction than a goal celebration! There is only so much abuse a man can take until he reaches breaking point. I was being abused by people who six months ago were singing my name and the abuse was for no reason. I scored and I wanted to show people it is not a good idea to abuse me. I really didn't understand it at all. They were clapping Kolo but they were shouting personal abuse at me before the match even kicked off." - Match Previews and Injury Reports: Injury Reports Liverpool v West Ham United Italy - Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro is set to miss Juventus' Champions League visit to Bayern Munich on September 30 because of a thigh muscle injury which will sideline him for up to three weeks. The centre back suffered the injury during Juve's Group A opener against Bordeaux on Tuesday which ended 1-1. Spain - Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has welcomed Luis Fabiano's commitment to the club, but has stated that there will no contract extension talks with the striker. 30-45 minutes now depending on if there were a lot matches that I need scores for and a lot of matches for the day. It was easier during the transfer market because I would go to a couple of sites that had all the rumors listed and even divided by country. Now I go to Soccernet, Yahoo UK, and other sites to get the news and scores. A lot of times I have to dig to find news for different countries too. EPL info is readily available but I still need to find better English sites with news for Italy, Spain and Germany. ESPNDeportes is great for South America but it's in Spanish so I would have to translate a lot that's why you dont see as much South American info. By the way, with Lanus beating River Plate both River and Boca were eliminated from Copa Sudamericana
I like the different thread for the different divisions. There was someone yesterday that mentioned by the time they get to the soccer thread each day it is to long for them to want to read it all. For example yesterday instead of putting Bayor getting banned on the 3rd page or whatever I would have started a new thread so that everyone that swings by the board would see that. Here is the deal. The more I think about it the more I think we would make it successful but to get one we need to summit and organized plan. It needs to not be to long but have key points with facts and stats to prove why it would be worth it. We need to gather points today in this thread that we can pull together to make this happen. -One thing that I would like to say is that Chile starting a soccer thread was to keep it together so there wasn't a bunch of threads about soccer cluttering the MB. Because of that we have been organized and policed ourselves those keeping multiple threads off the board. Thats why the higher ups have trouble believing we need our own board. Constant threads that we would have. -Fifa thread for questions, discussions, as well as separate thread for leagues. -1 each for the 3 main leagues as well as 1 for news/discussions for others -Fantasy thread -Pickem thread -ind. game threads for certain games.
I think one key point is that it would add more members and more people would get involved that dont know. We could then bring AlanMinor, April, flipperdoddle, etc and all other posters from different boards too. There are a lot of good soccer posters in Warchant too (by the way if somebody is not banned from rivals you should tell them about our soccer threads)
the only way to get people from rivals is to post on their fan page cuz if you put it on the RB it will get deleted
I really wish Arsenal would just forget about the Ade thing and move on, I hate how it has stayed a story, plus now Denilson has been ruled out for a couple weeks, and Arshavin very unlikely to play this week, hopefully Van Persie will be back, at least it looks like we will continue to see Diaby
I love the idea of a Soccer Board. I think Chile needs to be a Mod. There a few more on the soccer threads that could be mods as well. Also could we get more Italian news. I know there are more EPL fans on the site but I love to read the few tidbits we get every morning.
I have been looking for a good Italian source in English for a while now. ESPNDeportes is pretty good for Italy, but I would have to translate it. If you or anybody else has a good source then link it here and I'll use it to get italian news.
better attendance least debt more goals per game nicest stadiums parity you know where i'm goin with this...
I love the Bundesliga because every weekend there are at least 2 excellent matchups, but you know that they are still not considered a top league as the other 3. I think they are below the 3 barely and definitely above France and Holland.
i know we have a couple for 360, that was what i was hoping to do it on, hopefully we can get a club set up too
I have only had that happen 1 time and it was for Madden a few years back. But I still put the $5 down just to be sure.
I had already said Chelsea yesterday (I assume Real Madrid is banned). I have never done an online league can somebody explain it to me.
So we can make like a custom league with only the teams we choose. can we add other teams that would be controlled by the CPU. I can think of a few I would want in there like Wolfsburg, Hamburg, Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, etc. Also is there a limit on how many teams there can be?? I usually just play manager mode and ultimate team so I dont know much about the other game modes. thanks.
You could count me in for a league team on '10. By the way, I was in Gamestop yesterday and if you pre-order '10, you get a year subscription of The Soccer Magazine.
i was a dirty cm for a club team in 08, never really found a team to stick with last year, but you can count me in as a center mid for the club
play my best at ANY, LB, or RM...terrible up front. we'll have to pick our preferred positions and have a try-out of sorts to make sure everyone gets slotted where they fit best.
Yeah I would have no clue where I would best fit. Maybe Keeper? I am pretty good at stopping penalty's
