    - Sheikh Mansour has completed a 100 per cent buy-out of Manchester City. Through the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment, Sheikh Mansour gained control of the Eastlands outfit from disgraced former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra last summer.
Shinawatra had kept a 10 per cent stake but now City have confirmed Mansour has gained possession of that as well, giving him unquestioned control. "As a result of the transaction, Manchester City is now 100 per cent owned by his highness Sheikh Mansour," said a club statement.

    - New Manchester City song to be played when they walk out on the field:

    - England will play five-time World Cup winners Brazil in a friendly in Qatar on Saturday, November 14. The meeting, which will be the 23rd between the two countries, has been mooted for a while now but the Football Association have finally confirmed it after all the contractual details were sorted out.

    - Notts County have confirmed Sol Campbell has left the club "by mutual consent" after the former England defender asked to cancel his contract following only one game.

    - Blackburn Rovers forward El-Hadji Diouf has claimed that Everton fans threw bananas at him at the weekend after he was accused of verbally abusing a ball-boy. Diouf was questioned by police in the wake of Rovers' 3-0 defeat on Merseyside, but the former Liverpool player insists he did nothing wrong and that he was a target of racist insults from Everton supporters. He told Radio Monte Carlo: "The ball went out and I wanted to take the throw in quickly. The ball-boy threw the ball at me like a bone to a dog. The assistant referee told me he saw it but we had to continue and we would look at it at half-time. "What's more people threw bananas at me. The fourth official said he would make a report to the police. I didn't say anything so that people couldn't say, 'it's El-Hadji Diouf again'. I've had problems before but never like on Sunday."

    - Javier Mascherano could be facing a violent conduct charge from the Football Association after appearing to hit Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford on the back of the head with a swinging arm in Liverpool's 1-0 win in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

    - Newcastle United could finally be in new hands this weekend as the protracted sale of the club looks set to go through. Barry Moat, the Tyneside-based businessman, is reported to have had an offer of £100 million accepted by current owner Mike Ashley at the weekend and is believed to be confident that a deal can be put in place in the next few days.

    Spain

    - Zlatan Ibrahimovic could miss Barcelona's next match after suffering an ankle injury in his side's 4-1 thrashing of Racing Sandater on Tuesday night. Ibrahimovic's tests confirmed that the former Inter Milan striker has suffered a grade I-II sprain to his right ankle and has been classed as ''a doubt'' for Saturday's league match against Malaga.

    - Rapid Vienna insist their decision to play in red in next week's Europa League clash with Celtic is not designed to provoke their opponents.. Rapid have confirmed they will wear the colour to commemorate the notorious 1984 European Cup-Winners' Cup tie between the sides, which saw the Hoops ordered to replay the second leg at a neutral ground. Celtic had won the tie on aggregate but were punished by UEFA after a bottle was thrown from the Parkhead terracing and Rapid defender Rudolf Weinhofer pretended he had been struck by it.The replay took place at Old Trafford and Rapid won 1-0 courtesy of a goal scored by their current manager Peter Pacult, who was later attacked by a fan. Rapid spokesman Sharif Shoukry said: ''We wanted to keep this secret, but yes, we are definitely going to play in red.

    South America

    - Lionel Messi hit back on Tuesday over criticism of his Argentina performances and said they would reach the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. "We have to get together and go forward because Argentina can't stay out of the World Cup," the Barcelona forward said. Coach Diego Maradona's team, who lost their last two qualifiers 3-1 to Brazil and 1-0 in Paraguay, are in fifth place in the South American group, which is a playoff berth. "I alone won't win a match...this is down to all of us who are in the team," Messi told a radio station in Rosario, the city of his birth.

    - World Cup winner Romario will try his hand in politics in his homeland Brazil, despite being under investigation for tax evasion and struggling under personal debt. The legendary striker will join the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) and stand in the 2010 federal elections
