might be my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song they're known for No Rain but the second album is so much better and a great live show. Shannon Hoon was obviously on stuff, but a great front man, he was a legit star bizarre video lol
popping in to mention more as I nostalgia trip on Youtube. S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself were both awesome albums.
Mayonnaise is my personal favorite. 1990s Smashing Pumpkins is arguably my favorite band of all time. Their foray into industrial sounds when Corgan was fighting his mdma addiction was a little weird but still had a few good songs, probably should’ve just hung it up after Machina bc I don’t really care for what he’s putting out now.
Korn rightfully gets shit on but I still fucks with this one because some band at my middle school played it at a talent show and destroyed their guitars in front of the entire school
Non-unplugged AIC has always sounded like shit to me. On the flip side, unplugged AIC is possibly the greatest thing ever. Such an incredible album and sound, and really lets Layne’s vocals shine at their rawest and brightest.
Oasis is the better of the two RHCP Bloodsugarsexmagik is probably the best album of that decade IMO This thread has been a nostalgia trip, i havent listened to a lot of these songs in 10-20 yrs
Saw them a couple years ago for the first time after 23 years of listening to them since the age of 6. Was just as incredible as I ever could’ve imagined
For me this thread is more about albums and deep cuts than singles and one hit wonders, cause everybody knows that stuff. So bonus points if you throw down something by a known artist but not the song everyone knows
I know this board hates Sublime but idgaf I used to sing this to my baby daughter to get her to sleep. Also a deep cut TC
Also, if you can get past the potty mouth, Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville is a great rock and roll album.
a lot of these videos have far fewer view counts than i would've guessed .. like this one is about 8m do the kids not know about good 90s music? they all wear nirvana tshirts
exactly. and its recommending 'system of a down' videos to me that have like 1 billion views i guess this is what its like to be old
Kids Aren’t Alright, especially, but also Walla Walla, are great songs. Inadvertently jumping into 2001, I was blown away (after I jokingly threw on System of a Down’s Toxicity months back to revisit youthful times) at how incredibly on point and still relevant Prison Song is. As a young and dumb kid I never actually processed the lyrics.
Screaming Trees is another great band from the Seattle grunge scene whose sound really matured with Sweet Oblivion. I only started exploring them about 7 years ago as “Nearly Lost You There” was the only song of theirs I’d heard, but Mark Lanegan wrote a lot of great stuff. I even wore a shirt of theirs at BottleRock this year.
