Noon kickoff. Gross.
This might make u feel better but it’s not true. Miami was out played and out coached. I also think some of y’all really need re-evaluate how good y’all think this team and it’s coaches are. Next week will be interesting.
Most games are going to be a struggle as it has been for this program quite often over the past few seasons
Considering how poor the starts have been at 3:30 and 7:30 maybe they’ll play better. Who knows at this point
I’m sure Michigan State was hoping for a later game
It was scheduled for noon weeks ago
Opened up -7 against Sparty.
I can’t even fathom.
Opened -9 at a couple of books
Not sure how we’re not dogs
I've got a buddy who does his own gambling shit who claims his numbers have Miami as a double digit favorite. I don't get it either, I assumed at the most it's Miami -3
Miami has yet to cover this year, so it could be a great opportunity to make some money and if they beat the spread you're happy they won. It's a can't lose bet.
Manny has to be batting like .100 against the spread since getting here
I watched some of the game at work, glad I missed most of it. Hopefully we get rid of Manny and find a way to keep our DB coach.
Just fucking brutal, arguably the most talented kid on offense. Fuck this season
its become par for the course as a Miami fan. Its never the bums we want on the bench that ever get hurt its always our young promising players
Oh and our 5 star DT recruit that looked great in fall camp has yet to record a snap... Got to love that...
Cribby saying LT will probably be playing this game after the shitface in charge wouldn’t allow him to play a single down the first two games and really created a situation that the current high ranked DL we are after would definitely want to be a part of smh.
DL is playing like ass and we have a 5* riding the bench.
You mean the same assholes who wouldn’t start a 1st rd pick for the UF game because he was a redshirt freshman won’t play the best interior DL prospect we’ve had in forever?
Who was this? Rousseau?
yup. he didn’t start against UNC either
Why start a freak of nature when you can have Scott fucking Patchan on the field?
How about their obsession with Bobby Knowles?
Michigan state is gonna run for 400 yards against us…
I doubt that but I'm sure their qb who I've never heard of will be able to create his NFL draft tape from this game
Really starting to feel like tomorrow is really a make or break for the season type of game….fully expecting them to throw a complete dud
It's funny how the Alabama game essentially did nothing to the moral of folks in this thread but that App St game despite them being a pretty good team themselves has completely tanked the moral in here
I'm honestly curious what everyone's expectations were for this team with Manny at the helm coming into this season
I actually think they win decently tomorrow. When no one gives a shit is usually when Manure pulls a decent game out his ass
Schedule set up fairly favorably on paper after the Bama game which I think contributed to the confidence being high coming into the year
I really hope he's telling the truth. This is the only thing that will make me feel good about what I expect this season to become
I'm not really sure how it set up favorably, and I had this talk with a buddy of mine who was trying to talk up Miami before the season. How many games on the Miami schedule are what you would call "Autowins" your team can show up and sleepwalk and win comfortably every time especially when you factor in Miami's coaching staff? 2 -3 at the most and your first game is a big time Autoloss. I never understood the schedule argument because Miami isn't good enough to just crush on an easy schedule. They haven't been for a long time.
How many games were easy wins last year? 3 Duke, Louisville, FSU. Every other game was hard as hell for this team and they had to fight their asses off. That wasn't magically going to change over the summer because Miami doesn't have the coaching staff capable of making that leap from good/mediocre to elite. That's the problem, it's always going to be like this unless they fall ass backwards into someone good. There are no favorable or easy schedules for Miami everything will always be an ugly fight and occasionally they'll have a good game happen.
Wasn’t even so much about ‘easy wins’ as it was about the stretch of home games after Bama, VT and NC State at home, etc.
Yeah but wtf do home games even mean for this team? They struggle there too and UNC did not give a fuck where they played Miami at last year as they scored 100 points with ease in South Florida
Well go Michigan State, just do it fast, Get Mario in here ASAP to save this class. Next year’s class is too loaded. But knowing our luck, Manny will win out and then crash and burn next season.
Mario's got a nice setup at Oregon. Less pressure, more reasonable fan base, less competition for Cali talent out west, more money and resources, etc. Maybe my disgust with the state of the program has me buggin but I can see him telling us to go fuck ourselves if offered the job.
If someone asked you would you rather recruit Cali against the corpse of UCLA and USC while having the full backing of Nike and Phil Knight or come recruit in a state that now has 4 P5 teams and tons of a elite teams coming in from out of state to steal players? I'd imagine that's an easy decision for anyone
Also, firing Manny means nothing if Blake James gets to hire the next coach.
This, BJ would never pay the 6.5mil to buyout Mario this offseason, or really ever hire a top tier coach for that matter
Fully expect Mario to either stay at OU or grab himself an elite level job this offseason (ie LSU)
I would assume they would both be fired. This is Blake James hire and he has also made other poor hires. Time to go.
That said, it's been two games and one was Alabama. Maybe see how things play out just a bit longer before overreacting.
I don’t really understand how being mad at obvious coaching issues that have persisted for going on 3 seasons now is overreacting. If nothing changed after UNC and the complete overhaul of the offensive and now defensive staff it’s pretty obvious what the problem is. I mean ive always believed FIU and GaTech losses on year 1 were fireable offenses. He’s lucky he’s here now
And people keep saying "well it's Alabama" but they came out looking so awful I'm not sure what good team they could've beaten in week one. Oregon, Ohio State, Florida, Clemson etc would've done the exact same thing. And that's the problem nothing changed from last year. It's the same team and maybe worse.
From all accounts Blake is gone if Manny is gone
Pretty it’s not just football but all three major men’s sports need a complete overhaul. That falls right at Blakes footsteps for incompetence
Baseball being run by the son of a prominent donor is malpractice. L should have been let go 2 years ago or forced to retire. This is one of the worst AD's in the conference right now
Unless you pull a Locksley, it's almost unheard of for a CFB HC to be fired after their first year, especially when the AD hitched his career to the hire in the first place. Can't say what would have happened if the bottom would have fell out again last year but with the heat Blake's supposedly getting right now I can see him having an itchy trigger finger if he thinks it could ultimately save his own job
This isn’t just a school he likes growing up it’s the school he went to win championships at in the community he was born and grew up in. Big headed people always think they can fix it. Obviously the longer it takes to happen and the more he accomplishes at OU will make that harder to overcome but it’s not to far gone yet. It’s why FSU was able to steal Willie and he had no ties to FSU other than location. If you don’t think the draw to be the one to fix the school that you and your family friends and teammates still love isn’t a big draw then I don’t know what to tell you. Obviously he’s not going to just come for peanuts on the dollar. Miami would have to pay for it now and show they are committed to changes starting with getting rid of Blake.
Again, Blake isn't going to be making the next hire
Yeah I get what everyone is saying about pointing out issues but I just don't know what you think is going to happen. It's been two games he isn't getting fired. And he played two good teams. You also can't assume a first time head coach isn't going to improve and grow. He might not and I haven't seen him improve much so far but you have to let it play out. So despite what happened the first year and how down on him I was about it you got to at least give it 3 years unless he's an absolute disaster. After last year you can't say it's been that bad.
In a vacuum I tend to agree but the manner that he was hired was horrible optically and the fanbase/alumni/donors are teetering on the verge of being completely fed up
Yo, fuck Blake James and fuck Manny Diaz.
Bring Mario back to Miami.
That is all, god is love, Rev Run.
That's because of the history of this program. It's not Manny's fault we fell off a cliff after the early 2000s. Look I get it. I would have never hired Manny but if last year was a full year we would have won 10-11 games. And this year despite the struggles we could do the same. He's tried to correct his mistakes and he might just not have the ability to be a good head coach but you have to let it play out.
Agreed just not sure if, post Richt, the program needed a guy that is going to require several years to learn on the job
Absolutely didn't but here we are. That said if you are willing to pony up the money for Mario and he is willing to come I won't say no.
