King is a playmaker. Obviously, teams will be trying to force him to sit back and throw as much as possible. Curious to see how many teams will actually be successful at doing so

His throwing wasn't really the issue so much as he had like zero time to throw. The Oline is basura, he had one bad miss but he was of course under pressure

This is not accurate. He had plenty of time to throw, just started scrambling when his first read didn't come open.

It was also the first game after no spring and a bunch of weird shit in between. I think it was a good showing, all things considered

Yeah, King hasn't played a live football since September of 2019. All things considered that's a solid opening night in really weird times against a UAB team that's honestly not bad at all.

All it took was a nole for a clear perspective on things....

I’m not ecstatic but pleased with the performance. I think our oline was trash but they definitely had a solid dline and a game under their belt.

We had 500+ yards of offense in our first game, and took the gas off the pedal in the fourth. People need to fucking chill

UAB was also top 10 in total defense last year and allowed something like 3 yards a carry. Some people think we played FAMU last night. That program's won 20 games in the last two seasons

that’s a good point, they are well coached. But I chuckled a little at top 10 in total defense last year.

I really liked how your new oc called the game last night. He took some shots even if the timing was not perfect all the time. It opened up the running game. It can be frustrating at times but you have to call these shots to scare them off a little. It will click at some point.

This COVID situation is a complete nightmare for breaking in a new oc and new qb at the same time. I think they did a very good job...

....against a top 10 defense to boot

I wasn't a fan of whatever the fuck Lashley was trying to do in the first half. Once he mixed it up I liked things a bit more and the offense got going. Also call a fucking screen good christ.

if your oline can’t get upfield, do not call a screen. These guys already looked overwhelmed. Not sure calling a screen would’ve helped

The second he started mixing it up in the 3rd quarter, the offense broke off 17 points.

Just a trial by fire learning process for the whole offense. Either way it’s way better than last year

I still can't believe we ran the ball 52 times. I understand we line up in the shotgun now and do other modern things but holy shit is that conservative.

Besides slowing down for the 4th quarter....gotta think Rhett kept the playcalling pretty limited for the game

I'm so sick of that though. I've seen so many shit teams that are "not showing anything the first game" that still suck on offense to know that shit doesn't matter.

Well.... Lashley's offense is a rushing offense, if it's based on Auburn's Malzhan offense

I get it but I guess I was hoping more of the air raid influence would be there. Also yeah a running offense sure but that was so run heavy and not even very diverse in the types of runs we saw. We'll see how effective it ends up being but I am not a fan of any offense that runs it that much no matter what formations they use.

King's not an Air Raid QB though.... Like if that's what you were hoping for Miami doesn't have a QB on the roster capable of running that offense. I think the offense is fine and I also think Run heavy is good for this personnel. The play calling and execution needs to improve though. This was just a first game, give it time.

Louisville will be a tough game, that little receiver/rb is a problem and their coaching staff is very very good.

atwell is his name, dude can fly

And he's from Miami Northwestern. Disappointed Miami didn't make more of an effort for him.

His father was one of my favorite Gophers back in the late Jim Wacker/early Glen Mason years.

big mistake, it happens to every program but it is very frustrating when you miss on a guy like him that is in your backyard.

it will be an interesting game. Good test for Miami, Louisville is underrated. That team and coaching staff scares me

we beat the ever living shit out of them and the same staff last year with one of the worst teams we’ve ever had.

which means we will lose by 3 tds this year

Feel like we never get lucky with MNW. Didn’t we take 8 kids from there in 08 and the 9th (that we didn’t sign) end up being the only good one?

Sean Spence was a good linebacker, but yeah overall the MNW group didn't live up to expectations.

Not nearly as many teams to rank this year. Those that do play have a better chance of getting in the top 25.
