You guys fucked this up
Which coaches do you guys want to keep?
We better get rid of Lil Jon and Searles for sure. I want Simpson and Hartley to stay.
Literally no one on offense except maybe Dugans.
Want a completely fresh start on offense. Wouldn't be sad if Hartley left either - our special teams were atrocious this year.
I will reserve judgement until I see how the staff fills out
That was fast. Don't hate it if Manny can find a good OC.
They'll probably keep Dugans and Hartley or find spots for them based solely on recruiting performance. But at least its clear significant changes on offense are a must. A week ago we were convinced Richt would be running the same shit predictable offense next year
Wouldn’t be shocked if Major Applewhite got a call to be OC. He worked with Manny at Texas
His offenses at Houston weren’t bad
is miami paying a buyout to hire back its own defensive coordinator?
So Richt cost us 4 million by waiting until yesterday to quit. Welp.
everyone who signed off on spending $4mm to buy back our dc should be sent to an internment camp
A poster that swears that he knows Manny says that he never signed to Temple
I also read that there is no buyout for Richt at all, so call it a wash??
any noise on potential offensive coordinators?
Players seem to be happy
I really hope not.
Glad you didn’t have to suffer very long in Richt purgatory. Good luck with Diaz. I like the hire
And looks like Tyrique signed with Miami
Thanks, wish I liked the hire as much as you.
Seems like the locker room was really split on Richt
Your defense should remain pretty good. He can recruit, right? His guys are there now as positions coaches/DC and can recruit, right?
It all comes down to OC and the OL coach. OL coach might be the most overlooked staff member. That shit is crucial.
Wonder where Thomas Brown ends up?
Actually the offensive staff were by far the better recruiters till this year so who knows?
Those weren’t his offenses. Herman’s offense and then Briles Jr.’s offense. I remember their offense being pedestrian the one year in between when he first became the head coach.
Sigh I wanted a HC who specializes in something and could field an elite unit and on paper Manny does that especially when you considered all his assistant coaches other than cool were green so he obviously not only coached players but coaches as well. Problem is that fact that his hires on defense were green coaches ( I know MR actually made the coaching hire but Diaz had input in them especially Banda and Patke), it's very likely his OC and offensive hires will be no name green guys.
Doubtful. They wanted Richt to make sweeping, impactful changes on that side. I can’t see them hiring Diaz and him not obliging
He isn’t my first choice. But I get it. And it’s a lot better than what we could of done with some relic to the past imo.
He’s an elite DC and I wanted an x o guy, he’s young and hungry, and the Miami job might be his dream job. These are good things that you can’t really say about any other candidate.
His OC hire will be critical. Get some one that wants to let the O loose. I’d be interested in air raid type scheme.
Sweeping changes doesn't mean hiring good qualified coaches. If his OC turns out to be this Ponce dude then just don't even bother
Going to laugh when the only coaches shown the door are Richt jr and searles.
How is he as a CEO type? Taggart was a mess, disorganized, no plans, poor communication, etc. You need a guy that runs a tight ship and holds people accountable.
I don’t know how he is as CEO type? That’s a risk you take with any first time HC hires, but there are successful ones.
He seems like someone that would be good on the accountability front. He’s a fiery guy that I doubt would let people slack there. Organization no idea, he’s younger and maybe he’s a little green on this. Support staff will be key to get him up to speed there. We will get a relatively better idea on both fronts over the next few weeks with how efficiently he cleans up the staff and his handling of recruiting.
More important is his next hire. That will decide everything.
On a side note, I’ve bumped into Manny and his family a few times. Always got the read he would love to never leave Miami if he could.
Any idea who the oc will be?
The guy who would make you rage the most...
Seriously. Chip long is not moving
Who is your first candidate ?
Just read a bit of this thread, you guys have no idea.
But it’s not a bad spot to be in. I would go young here
No idea. Major Applewhite was floated in the other thread and that wouldn’t shock me
Some sites mentioning Frank Ponce
Stay away from air raid
It will kill your defense
