I'm on it as well. And honestly, so many people bashed it that my expectations were extremely low going in. Because of that I am able to enjoy it and have been pleasantly surprised.
yeah I'm not too upset reading it. there are just really no "wow, that was crazy. can't wait to get to their next chapter" moments at the end of each chapter, at least not at the beginning of the book. I hear towards the end it really starts to pick up.
very good so far, I'm only about 1/3 of the way through but there some definite 'oh shit' moments. i'd put Storm of Swords Dance with Dragons Clash of Kings Game of Thrones Feast for Crows in order of most enjoyable for me so far.
yea I think that's the problem. to be honest, I didn't appreciate it as much until I read it the second time. there's just so much in there that sets up the whole thing.
I just recently finished ACOK recently and i'm trying to remember his role. Didn't he just hold Storm's End against Stannis' siege and eventually get killed off? Am i forgetting something?
during the parley before Stannis shadow-murked him he called out all of the lords who switched from Renly to Stannis as being pussies, told Melisandre to bugger her god and threw his glove in Stannis' face and challenged him to single combat. he did all this knowing full well he was a dead man and could easily save himself by turning over the kid. badass in my book.
Ah ok gotcha. I had forgotten about him calling out Renly's old bannerman and the single combat stuff (which is surprising considering the Davos POV was my favorite of the book). I feel like i've forgotten so much already, i kinda want to read it again before the show starts.
Re reading this book in anticipation for season 2 and the Reeds just showed up Spoiler Fucking retarded if it's true they're not in season two
not confirmed, but I haven't seen any indication whatsoever that they are a part of this season. I feel like we would have heard some casting news by now or spotted something in regards to them in a trailer. you really don't see Bran in any of the trailers. I wonder if they're going to put his story on the shelf somewhat this season. not sure how the would do that though with all that happens in Winterfell in book 2.
Now that you mention it I do remember seeing Bran in one of the trailers riding in the back of Hodor (Hodor Hodor Hodor) and he looks up at the comet and Osha says that the comet could only mean one thing...dragons. But I didnt see anybody walking with them at that point.
I read somewhere that Osha is going to be taking over the "magical" aspects of the Bran angle that the Reeds provide in the books. I'm only on book 4 so I don't know if the Reeds are going to play a bigger part in Dance but that is what I have seen on other message boards.
Makes sense cause she's from beyond the wall and some of the convos she has with Bran in the show when they are in the Gods woods. Really wanted to see the Reeds
Have you read all 5 books? Do the Reeds play a bigger part in book 5? I like them and all, but they really haven't done much outside of Spoiler explaining about the greensight Bran has
Finished Book 2 a few days ago. Ready for season 2 on HBO. Blackwater battle was awesome. I wish they would have talked more about Robb's battles. Jaqen H'ghar was great too. Will like to see where he ends up. Donderric (sp?) And Selmy have got to turn up too at some point. Hopefully Arya runs into Nymeria in the woods. It seems like that has been set up. I want to see what Tyrion does now that he isn't the Hand. Qarth was cool. Need more Melisandre. I imagine Shadow babies are only the beginning. Magic is coming alive everywhere. Like: Arya, Bran, Jon Jaime, Tyrion Littlefinger, Varys The Hound Asha Dislike: Sansa, burning your matress in a fireplace? Theon, and he seems like a dumbass Joffrey, lol at him cutting himself on the throne and yelling for his mom. More direwolves, dragons, & white walkers please.
fucking Theon after reading the book (2), I rewatched season 1. picked up on a lot more shit about that dirtbag that went over my head the first go round
Yeah, they definitely gave him a more scumbag undertone in the show than the first book. Kind of knew something scummy was coming from him sometime soon after watching the series.
Totally...was blindsided when reading book 2 researched season 1 and felt like a dumbass for not catching it
I almost wish they didn't foreshadow anything at all. I understand that he snaps back when someone calls him a slave, but I didn't get any hints when I read the first book or saw the first season the first time. I was totally shocked reading the second book, I hope the casual fan didn't pick up on anything in season 1
