goat version. i have bantams for 1-3 then hard cover for 4 and 5.
thought the prologue was boring as hell for the most part. Either way, very glad to be on book 2. Looking forward to getting ahead of where the show is.
book 2 prologue is probably my least favorite chapter in all the books.
Yeah I didn't like the prologue at all. Got interesting the last few pages, but for the most part it was meh.
ASoS prologue is the best prologue
Reading about Stannis' decision of whether or not to retake Storms End after Renlys death reminds me of Hitler wanting to take Stalingrad. Storms End is symbolic to Stannis as the seat of House Baratheon just as Stalingrad was symbolic to Hitler as the name sake of his greatest adversary. The Onion Knight reminds Stannis that Ser Courtnay doesn't pose a real threat but the Lannisters do. Also, thousands will die in trying to take Storms End. The oil fields south of Stalingrad were of more strategic importance than Stalingrad itself and once bombed, Stalingrad and the banks of the Volga were just as impregnable as the high walls of Storms End.
book 4 prologue suuuuuuuucks
Courtnay Penrose might be my favorite minor character. such a boss.
Thus far I like the Onion Knight. The Stannis story line is entertaining. Melisandre is a bitch but she has supernatural powers which is interesting. Right now the only crappy story lines are Catelyn and Sansa
yah I liked the way he told Stannis to fuck off, even when no one else dared. He stood for what he believed in when everyone else was just betting on who would eventually win the crown.
Book 4 prologue is awesome
Only George fucking Martin could make me like a gump post.
Just finished CoK. Diving head first into ASoS
Just finished ACOK. Are there a lot of ASOS spoilers in here? BAscially I want to read this thread before I start, but dont want anything ruined.
Piece of advice. Do not even come to this board again until you're done with ASOS. Seriously, just read it all and report back when finished.
also take the cok out of your mouth dude, you finished it off.
srs tho just blow through Swords and be happy while you do
Tower of the Hand has really good chapter summaries if you need anything to be cleared up. They also discuss theories, etc., and you can set your scope to ACOK so you don't get spoiled.
A lot of stuff is subtly spoiled on this board without people realizing it. I would just stay off any forum completely until you finish the series and then go crazy when you're done. Like Fuzzy said, The Tower of the Hand is a good encyclopedia and setting a scope ensures you won't get spoiled.
Thank's for the advice fellas. I was going to read marcus 's diary thread, but I guess I wont. Do they have somethign like that on Tower of the Hand? Taking my lunch and am going to start right meow....
As I said, the first two were kind of slow for me because I knew what was going to happen for the most part. Very excited to get to new material.
just finished, 100 pages into SoS
loving it so far
Rereading and about 1/3 the way though. Book 1 took forever on the reread, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would. Book 2 has been awesome though. Arya chapters are awesome, love traveling through the war zone with her. Also enjoying Tyrion running shit in KL.
300 pages in a reread and I totally forgot how quickly this book gets right into it. I remembered ACoK being kind of slow, but I'm wrong so far.
Just finished the prologue. First read-through. Stannis and Davos intros are awesome.
I'm enjoying ACoK much more on this reread than the firs time I read it and reread it.
Finished my reread a week or so ago. Love this book
And loved reading the first couple pages of people worried blackwater wouldn't live up to the book.
Finished it today. The chapters where Cat and Arya hear that Bran and Rickon are dead
In the home stretch of my first re-read of this book. Forgot about Strong Belwas and how much I loved him.
Almost certainly Im taking too much from the TV show and making this seem more important than it is, but...
Turning, Hodor put his back to the wood and shoved. Again. Again. “Hodor!” He put one foot on a higher step so he was bent under the slant of the door and tried to rise. This time the wood groaned and creaked. “Hodor!” The other foot came up a step, and Hodor spread his legs apart, braced, and straightened. His face turned red, and Bran could see cords in his neck bulging as he strained against the weight above him. “Hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor HODOR!” From above came a dull rumble. Then suddenly the door jerked upward and a shaft of daylight fell across Bran’s face, blinding him for a moment. Another shove brought the sound of shifting stone, and then the way was open. Osha poked her spear through and slid out after it, and Rickon squirmed through Meera’s legs to follow. Hodor shoved the door open all the way and stepped to the surface. The Reeds had to carry Bran up the last few steps.
Hodor screaming Hodor repeatedly as he's holding up a door.
Just finished book 2. Ramsay got theon good.
