it blew my mind but I had no idea on so many of the theories that were already out there until I read this thread after I finished the book, so much amazing stuff happened in ADWD that I had no clue was coming...plus it has Tyrion and Jon Snow
Jon Snow chapter....Jon derps around at the wall book 5 spoiler Spoiler His best chapters were when he was away from the wall...so maybe there is hope for WoW Also Bran's chapters are a chore
just reading this entire thread (didn't get much work done today) - two things that stuck out to me that I didn't really see mentioned. 1. Tyrion's father/death of his mother - what if Aerys is Tyrion's father, but it wasn't rape and Tywin killed his wife similarly to how/why Victarion did? I'm trying to think back, but do they ever say Tyrion killed his mother, or do they only say that he is the reason for her death? I'm not sure I believe this though, main reason being as someone pointed out - Gemma's line to Jaime about Tyrioin truly being Tywin's son. I would love to see Tyrion riding a dragon though. 2. as far as the Maggy the Frog prophecy about Cersei goes, I know they meant you to believe that Margaery was the queen that would come and take everything from her, and then I saw people saying it was going to be Sansa, but I think it's definitely Dany. and I have a question. a bunch of times in this thread I see mentions of the black dragon leaving Dany (and possibly going to Jon). why are people so sure that this will happen? is there some sort of prophecy I missed? (please keep in mind that I'm just starting ADWD so don't spoil)
I wouldn't ask for theories on anything because in another thread I about spoiled the shit out of ADWD for you on accident.
won't take you that long...it may be longer than book 4 but was a much quicker read...i did the books in about the same time frame as you, just started a month earlier
I'm not going to be in a rush to finish knowing that there's nothing after though. I'm gonna be sad when I'm done.
Just got done with Arya's 'Cat of the Canals' POV in aFfC and GRRM drops a bomb at the very end of it. Thumb through the next 200 pages and see it's her last POV of the book. Fuck. Her's are the only POV's I have enjoyed so far outside of the one from Arianne and the one from Victarion. This book is tedious as fuck. Now I get to trudge through 700 more Jamie and Cersei POV's. Yippee.
This thread is for people who have finished the whole book so if you want to just talk about what happened in the chapter outright that's fine
Just finished FfC. At the end when Sam is in oldtown, it mentions Pate, For the life of me I could not remember where he had been mentioned before, someone remind me.
Was it a faceless man who killed him? When Pate asked who are you the other guy responded "No one, truly."
Spoiler I don't know if this is a spoiler or not, but isn't it hinted that Jaqen H'ghar was the faceless man that killed him?
I can't really remember, I read them all back-to-back so they all kind of blur together. I hope I didn't spoil anything for you.
Question about aDwD, is it supposed to be going on in the exact same timeline as a aFfC? Or does it just catch up on the other stories (Tyrion/Jon Snow/Dany) then proceed with the overall timeline?
I am not sure how I feel about this yet. In reading Jon's POV it was weird having him run into Sam when I know that Sam is now in Oldtown. It feels like I have cheated and read the chapters out of order. Probably just my obsession with having everything in chronological order.
Well it took me like a week but I finally read this entire thread. Def agree AFOC is my least favorite and was a chore to get through at times. 20 chapters into ADWD now and it's def really good. Only bad thing is Tower of the Hand doesn't have up chapter summaries for ADWD and those things really helped me keeping everything together.
got a kick out of this post on page 1 of this thread. I believe the tag (back when we had tags) was "If Bran dies I'm out" Poor OP, getting all attached to characters like that.
just started ADWD and figured id pop in this thread and check it out like i did with the first 3 books... then saw 42 pages hory fawk
Yea before we had a whole board this was the asoiaf thread. It was always for people who had finished all four books (only four were out when this board was made) so I just made it the book 4 thread
just finished....owwwww yeaahhhh. 1st 3 quarters of the book were so tedious but the last quarter was pretty good. Saw that shit coming with Cersei and just laughed my ass off. Love Jaime now. Can't wait to start ADWD.
i really liked book 4, a lot of people dont. i think its great the amount of depth and happenings across westeros instead of just with the characters that "matter." i loved reading what was going on in dorne and the iron islands
