Read that Moyes expects a British record for Rice. 1 year left, gotta think 80 is the highest unless someone gets stupid and Chelsea are running out of money
Yeah I’ve come around on this. It’d be like putting an asterisk on a World Series winner because the other teams best hitter got suspended for steroids.
I think there's a <1% chance they get a point deduction this season so I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about it.
So I’d be shocked if he goes for less. Chelsea are dumber than shit. United is still run horribly. Newcastle need depth and who knows with City. Spurs potentially as well, plus he’s a Brit, so tax on tax. I will say at the end of the day Id like to think we are the most desirable. From a style, depth (no doubt walks into this side) and form. Of course the form could change but he could also easily just look to secure the biggest bag possible, at which point we are out. I’m still in a similar point as the winter window, I’m okay with alternatives if he does not land.
I'd love Rice, but by no means is he the be-all, end-all & not worth "British record" fee. My preference would be snagging someone from the continent, with a smaller fee & a fraction of Rice's wage demands... & have funds available for other needs
While Rice would be great, I want us to hit the RC for Zubimendi as soon as the window starts and give him a few months with the team so he's ready to hit the ground running...
Some pods discussed resting Martinelli for City but we’re the least changed side this season so no surprise the lineup is unchanged
I think in most cases least changed translates into healthiest. He certainly rotated less than two weeks ago against City and has for Europa. I don’t think it’s time to get cute with a lead in the league. Martinelli has been less than his best but he’s still our best for the position and he’s young. Let him work through it, IMO. Not mad if people feel different but I don’t agree with the narrative that he doesn’t rotate.
Don’t think Martinelli’s drop in form is rest related (it’s Jesus). Not sure about the rotation narrative, statistically we don’t change much (least changes from substitutes as well). Could be injury luck and/or lack of options on bench, hasn’t been an issue yet so no complaints
Trossard was pretty worthless last week when he came on so I’m fine sticking with Martinelli even if he’s been off a bit. he’s had a full week rest so unless he’s carrying an injury he should be fine.
That works on a lot of levels -radioactive from racist video -potentially expensive disaster after flaws exposed in harsh conditions -put in this position solely due to financial gain
This feels like Arsené ball. All the possession without having any real chances and Brentford get in dangerous spots every time they have the ball.
Off topic: why is it that the team store is constantly out of new stuff? They released that France hoodie and it was immediately out of stock in XL. Do they not understand the demand for things? Feels like the club is leaving money on the table every time there’s a release because it sells out in popular sizes in no time.
scarcity man. they get people to run and buy it immediately because they know it will sell out and they want to have what others don’t.
