didn’t notice it until now, but i like how timber’s chilling, sitting front row knowing he’s seeing the epl save of the month before his very eyes
I know everyone wants to move MLS into midfield, and I get it, but maybe he's just the perfect LB for this system and plays plenty in midfield from that position anyway.
For me, I think it’s more about who the best 11 will be next year considering positional availability and I think that would ideally include Timber, White, and MLS. Maybe that’s too bullish on MLS/bearish on Merino though.
I think it all boils down to the type of game we have to play, because there are really only two types at this point. If teams play us straight up I'll take my chances against anyone and he can play LB because he will tend to be on the ball a lot in those matches. Open for debate but that's maybe 15% of our matches at this point? For the low blocks I'd rather have him in a more forward role where he's not tracking back and putting himself in compromising situations. He's too good on the ball in an area where we consistently can't break teams down. He's great on the ball anywhere on the field and part of that is down to PGMOL, but if we're down a man I'd prefer it's not him.
I don't think anyone is calling for him to play in MF... It's just where he's played historically, until the last few months. He'll be effective in either role, with his ability to carry the ball, draw in & hold off defenders. Lots of moving parts within the squad & having him step up has been a massive boost. It's a great "problem" to have.
did it? I missed that part of the convo... point stands. I don't really care where, just needs to be on the pitch.
Saka obviously had to move forward (from LB) because his end product was so obvious (tho it didn’t really explode until he moved to the right). MLS’s superpower is press resistance/ball progression, which he gets to do a ton at LB. more importantly, what shirt number is he going to get next year? 3? 5?
I glanced at / misread the new thread name and thought it was referencing rainey but now I realize I don’t even remember the quote. Something about Wenger funding Muslim council housing (powered by Dua Lipa)? Hope that guy is doing well and has lowered his blood pressure
Rainey was a massive chud in hindsight and can fuck off that post was very funny, before we realized the fate of this world
i’m sure we’ll hear plenty of it when he scores his usual game winner in the champions league final imo
I assume this hate is due to the unsubstantiated allegations, as he's been quite excellent all season
