    Hey guys,

I thought I’d continue posting ITT regarding updates to my film.

We won ‘Best Documentary’ at a film festival recently.

Sorry for being vague, but I’ll be more specific soon.

    Thanks for everyone’s interest.

I’m guessing you went to some sort of film school Pelican Grove?

Trying to figure out what the fuck I have going on. Have something I’m set to start shooting in August.

Not really into the story I have going on, honestly. But stoked that I have someone that has produced a “feature” on board.

My idea was to shoot some Raymond Carver shorts to raise money for a bigger project (Yakima and such, and I have connections in that regard) but I guess we’re going full steam ahead without that.

I’m mostly a hands on learner so hoping to get a taste for things and work from there.

I did not attend a 'film school,' but rather took several classes at Ole Miss for film and theater. Everything I learned came from reading and watching videos, and a lot of movies + most importantly trial and error out in the field.

I always say I learned so much of what NOT to do while making this film.

Yeah it took literally years to complete this film. People who want to make films have no idea how hard and difficult it is. It takes a lot of time.

I appreciate your support. Keep us up to date on your project.

    Finally saw The Florida Project.

Really good. Sean Baker’s direction and Alexis Zabe’s cinematography gave the film a real Steven Soderbergh vibe imo.

The final scene where the girls are in the Disney World was filmed on a iPhone 6plus gorilla style. Crazy. The rest was on 35mm film.

Motherfuck I hate my city’s movie options. Every theater in town (four in total) is owned by the same family, so they’re archaic as fuck, and a lot of the great indie/arthouse stuff never sees the light of day here.

A small ass majority latino town next to me, that screens films in Spanish to cater to their community, is screening Hereditary before this abyss of a movie city of mine. Sorry. Rant over. Can’t wait to see this.

    Thoughts on "Eighth Grade?"

I thought it was excellent and almost shocking for Burnham to get such a pitch perfect portrayal of the awkwardness of middle school, but definitely underestimated how difficult it would be to watch. It's a tough 90 minutes to make it through without being pretty emotionally exhausted. A little difficult to make it through.

I’ve always felt like that group of guys (levitt, rogan, hill) would be perfect candidates to make something worthwhile about growing up in the 90s.. I think this looks great but it also looks like it focuses heavy on a subculture that not everyone is gonna relate to

Saw it tonight and thought it was excellent. Very relatable, even to a male 15 years removed from middle school. Very easy to root for the protagonist. Teared up several times.

Saw Eighth Grade a couple days ago. Mentioned it in the Urban thread but my daughter is a year away from eighth grade and the movie made me feel all the feels. Kendall is constantly on her phone, she wants a YouTube channel & her own Instagram...not ready for that shit yet. Thought the dad was great, especially the banana scene. The soundtrack/score was perfect especially whenever the camera cut to Aiden. Got a little dusty a couple times. All in all a really good watch
