it'd be at most, two extra years on top of next year The amount of Packer fans I've seen be OK with Rodgers getting traded or retiring is nuts. I 100% get it if you think Aaron Rodgers the person sucks and you can't deal with him anymore after the COVID stuff. If Rodgers comes back, they're a top 5 contender. If he doesn't, making the playoffs is a bit of a stretch. Feels like a lot of fans aren't acknowledging how poor next season might look with him gone.
at some point you will need to move on, why not get something for him in the meantime. him failing to win in the playoffs year after year and becoming very difficult to root for just makes it easier.
I still wonder if they gave Love an extension that made his cap hit lower in 2023 (fifth year option year) and then 2 additional years after that at like $13-15 million that he could get out of early if he's good, and the Packers could probably unload to a shitty team that needs a QB if he sucks. (Similar to where Goff/Jamie's/Trubiski are in their careers)
Since it's the Packers, they'll trade Rodgers elsewhere for a bunch of picks. They will end up with the #1 pick next year either from being terrible themselves or if Rodgers gets hurt wherever he goes. They'll end up with Love or Stroud, and dominate the division another 15 years.
i still don't get why rodgers wants to go to denver. yes, they very clearly need a qb and have talented players but they were league-average on defense and the AFC is just loaded with top tier qbs. why put yourself in a worse situation than your current one?
I remain confused why a 38 year old aaron rodgers with a gigantic cap hit is going cost way more than a 33year old Matthew Stafford. If it really does, very good shot this goes horribly for the acquiring team and great for the packers.
Derek Carr and an average Raiders squad made the playoffs out of that division this year. Let’s not act like the AFC is some gauntlet to get through.
I watched Matthew Stafford play 2 games a year against Aaron Rodgers for 12 straight seasons. I'm not sure why you're confused, but you shouldn't be.
the difference in qbs is substantial. if rodgers goes to the afc, it's: rodgers, mahomes, allen, burrown, herbert, lamar vs russ, dak, stafford, kyler, cousins, matt ryan
he's not better enough to make up for the 5 year age and contract difference, played with very good rosters yet the packers have been to 1 super bowl with him
I’m not sure age really matters. Rodgers is still elite. he’s fallen flat in the playoffs but still miles ahead of Stafford if you’re using that as a measurement.
Within 9 months, I watched peyton mannings go from elite to shit at rodgers age. The idea all these qbs are going brady it is dumb. 5 years of very good qb play and a lower cap hit vs one or two years of elite qb play at the biggest cap hit, i'll take option one.
I don’t know what to tell you man you seem to be arguing with the reality of the situation. I also loved Peyton Manning but he never had the arm of Rodgers to begin with.
I get the age part with Rodgers, but I don't think Rodgers and Manning are comparable in any way physically so the comparison is pointless. Rodgers will be able to make throws in his back yard at 50 that Peyton couldn't make at 35.
I want them to trade him. Guy sucks (not on the field obviously). im fine with having a down year or 2 and start over.
it could lead to years and years of shit. But its now or in 2-3 years. we arent talking about a 24 year old. Rodgers is a disgusting lying selfcentered bitch. We should be happy to get rid of him.
This is where I'm at. The Broncos + Rodgers - assets needed to acquire him <<< Packers + Rodgers Not to mention he'd go to a division with Mahomes, Herbert, and the Raiders
I think he just likes that they really want him. Also, his now ex-fiance lives in Boulder and it made since to move there before they broke up. I don't get him going to Denver now. Nor did I really ever get it given the competition difference in the AFC West vs. NFC North.
as a packers fan I understand the last 30 years you have minimal if any experience with shit seasons…..as someone who knows nothing but shit seasons I caution you about wanting to just dump your MVP QB due to being ready to rebuild
Lions have a one-game winning streak against the Packers in games Rodgers starts (but doesn't finish)
