There is a lot of things that Favre talks about that I don't have any interest in listening to, but he is literally the one person on the face of the earth that has experienced what Rodgers is going through with the people on the other side. TT might be dfd but both he and Gute were operating off the same principals as they were taught by Ron Wolf.
Media people throwing around stuff like "5% chance he plays in GB again" are insane to me. GB doesn't have to do anything until he comes out and says it himself, and the second he does that he loses the ability to blame the media. If he really has that level of resolve about being traded, he would have done that by now because any trade between now and August is 5x more complicated than it would have been in March or any time before the draft. This ends with a contract extension with massive guarantees and a presser where he says he doesn't understand what the fuss was about as he blames the media, IMO.
Athletic did an article on potential offers for Rodgers from the beat writers of the other teams, they were WR Jerry Jeudy, TE Noah Fant, a 2022 first-round pick and 2023 first- and third-round picks QB Derek Carr, ILB Nick Kwiatkoski, a 2022 first-round pick and a 2023 first-round pick QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, DT Daron Payne, WR Antonio Gandy-Golden, a 2022 first-round pick and 2023 first- and second-round picks Maybe it’s just me but it seems negligent and bad management to turn down offers like that for a 38year old qb that no longer wants to be there. Especially when they were clearly doubtful about his future, evidenced by the love pick. Everyone looks at Brady but are people forgetting the shit Manning turned into in his late 30s suddenly.
Those are awful trade offers The Raiders one is especially offensive As for WFT, give up McLauren and we can talk.
You need at least 4 to run a training camp, they have 2 But that doesn't make as compelling of a headline
I think the Denver suggestion is more than fair. It's essentially 4 first round picks. The other two were pretty jokey though. Especially Washington. "Here's some trash we don't really want plus two firsts in exchange for your HOF QB"
People ignoring his age in regards to trade value is what I don’t get. Yeah he’s better than Stafford but he’s also 6 years older so I think the trade value should be pretty comparable.
Someone may have been able to talk me into that Denver offer if this was 2 weeks ago and you replaced Fant with the 9th pick. I wouldn't do it under normal circumstances, but in this scenario I think that's an offer I could say yes to. It's still the best of that lot, but I'd just much rather have the pick, and it's pretty much impossible to trade someone once you've picked them in the NFL.
If the Packers aren't allowed to protect their future by drafting a qb they rate highly, they arent going to send him off at a discount based on his age.
How do these guys get paid money to write about football? Those are laughably low offers and the players included don’t really make any sense.
Wasn't Tonyan like top 5 in receiving TDs last season? GB is much better off working a defensive player into that trade
Not saying they wouldn't be better off with a defender. Just saying Fant is an upgrade at TE. Tonyan had 11 TDs but did it on 52 catches. It's highly unlikely he repeats that sort of TD performance. Fant had more yards and receptions with a bottom 5 QB situation and he's the far superior athlete.
This is every GB tight end with Rodgers. But yes, including a TE as if he adds value to a trade for Aaron Fucking Rodgers is silly.
If I'm Denver I'd rather just send more picks than add Jeudy and Fant. That offense is loaded and ready to compete.
People are really mad at Schefter today for basically saying he sat on the Rodgers news until draft day and dropped it. To some GB fans, apparently that means it's not true.
Yeah and he was fucking incredible for 3 seasons post injury before suddenly turning to shit. Its not like rodgers hasnt had injury issues either too.
I am sure that he was instructed to do so from his source in Rodgers's camp. Ruining their draft night was payback for pissing him off last year on draft night.
Chris mortenson was on the radio in Denver today and few tidbits were.... -packers really hardened their not trading him stance when the stuff was leaked on draft day but said he’s heard since it’s softening -Rodgers has made it clear the Broncos are the preferred destination -he and his fiancee have recently purchased or are in the process of purchasing a home in Boulder -he has been told the raiders will not be involved
rodgers has 3-4 elite years left, if you are *close* it’s worth it. By the time your first round picks are gone and he retires/sucks you tank and get a chance at getting the next great qb. Broncos didn’t have it work *exactly* how they wanted but it worked. You can’t win in this league without an elite qb or a competent one or an ALL-TIME defense and competent qb. At the worst you just generated a fuck-ton of money for a few years because you have Aaron Rodgers and you just gave yourself 3-4 years as a GM. I’ll die on this hill.
I agree. Especially if you appear to have no younger guy with promise in sight. Makes too much sense for the Broncos. Last time they brought in a legendary QB in his late 30's it worked out well.
I mean, Shefter looks like an ass because all he did is scoop a collection of rumors, but all he probably did is summarize and sensationalize what Demovsky has been saying - which probably is sourced.
I regularly click on Michael Lombardi articles simply to down vote it without reading it. Everything I've ever read if his is a collection of lazy narrative bullshit
And every article needs to be 2000 words. Some of us have ADD or just don’t care for a story to drag on 10x longer than needed. They have great writers and have bought books by a few but quit my subscription
