That's the beauty of betting through a local book rather than online or in Vegas. You don't have to have the $ upfront so it allows you to get a little crazy sometimes. Of course it can be uncomfortable when things are going poorly like they were for me the first 2 weeks and you have to scrape together the money to be able to pay.

Just added up my numbers for the weekend and I went 8-4 on saturday for +3 units, as I was betting half units for the most part. I was a little gun shy as I had a terrible week previously in cfb. Sunday was probably my best day I have ever had as I went 9-1 +14.85 units on the day. +17.85 on the weekend ain't too shabby. As for tonights game, I'm thinking of a 6 pt teaser with the +11 Vikings and the Over 32,
I agree with you about bookie screwing you over with shitty odds and stuff. My bookie only pays 2.35 to 1 on a 2 team parlay and for 6 point teasers he only gives you 5 points on totals. It's bullshit but I just won't play a parlay or teaser involving a total with him so it doesn't really bother me. I also find that I can expose weaknesses in his operation that I couldn't expose online. For instance with hockey and baseball totals everything is -110 both ways so I can get plays in with him that would normally be -130 or -140 online for normal juice. He's also a little slower to adjust the line than online books usually are. That comes in handy during basketball season sometimes when RAS might release a play and I can sneak a play in before he realizes the line needs to move.
I've had 3 different locals that I have used over the last few years and they all would base their lines off of an online book, so trying to expose them never usually worked out. Sometimes they were too busy to check lines when calling or texting them in so you could sneak something in.

It's a homer pick for sure but it also fits into the ML dogs system that is hitting at quite a good rate this year. I think you'd agree that +180 is a ton of value for a team with as much talent as the Vikings especially when you consider that the Vikings have the 2nd best winning percentage in the NFL coming off of byes.

Hooks are a ripoff. They make a difference about 5% of the time and you are paying 10%. Can't root against the Skins. Got 5.5 on Redskins +4 @ even. Beautiful. Got a nice little 7.5 point window to win all or it's a $50 loss which I can take. Either team wins by a fg or less I win 10.5 units. I'm just happy to have a winning day after yesterday's debacle by the Bucks.
I won about 3 units on a day where I should have been killed. I'll take it and I don't regret hedging on the over. I had a great shot to win both if the Skins had settled for a FG instead of a TD on that last drive.
Just wanted to take a look at these as we approach the halfway point of the season and honestly it's not pretty. The 2 unit plays are a mess. I have some hope that the Lions are playing well enough that they can get to 5 and push but that's pretty much the best case scenario. The Chargers are basically dead. Packers and Saints I think is 50/50 at this point. I guess I'll be encouraged by the fact that they are pretty much on pace for 11 wins despite playing pretty poorly. The Packers look like a loser but they are a team that's capable of rallying but probably much like the Lions a push is my best case scenario at this point. The 1 unit plays look a little better. The 49ers and Cowboys will both be winners barring remarkable turnarounds. Patriots look decent but that could still go either way. The Vikings despite being well behind the pace I think will be OK since their last 9 games are much easier than their first 7. The Colts are the Colts. I think I've got a decent shot to get to 11 there but that might be the best I can hope for. Redskins could go either way at this point.
Yeah, I don't see that. If you are capable of losing to the Rams you are capable of going 6-10 against your remaining schedule. If I had to guess right now I'd say I'm going to lose the bet and you will go 8-8.
