It was good in TNA however many years ago. I don’t think they are going to get lightning in a bottle this time around.
And don’t get me wrong, Matt is super talented. His Impact run coincided with a lot of junk around him, so he truly stuck out. AEW has so many compelling characters, I just think Broken Matt has a hard time sticking out. I mean hell, that Jake promo to open the show was way more interesting than Matt’s promo imo
Disagree, WWE would have had lightning in a bottle if they would have just let Matt do Matt but they watered it down into that woken bullshit. If AEW just gives Matt a camera and says go do you, it will be a hit again
idk if i'm in the right thread, but who else is watching Dark Side of the Ring? great docuseries on VICE ...
Watched the Brawl for All one on YouTube today. Cornette is entertaining but so ridiculous with the posing and tough guy act. I've fallen down the YouTube rabbit hole of wrestling podcasts with Cornette and also Something to Wrestle With. As smart as Cornette is about wrestling stuff, he reminds me of the Justified line "If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole." Dude hates everyone and shits on everything that wasn't his idea, and his co-host just agrees with everything he says and makes it worse.
I don't have much of a background to go off, so in terms of the series he's a just a historian for me. But really enoying them as a non-wrestling fan. I definitely can remember the Benoit murders, so that was a relevant one for me. From last season the ep on the Von Erich bros and the Bruiser Brody murder were particularly good ...
I saw the last five minutes. It was strangely homoerotic and it looked like something grad students at NYU would make.
Jericho could retire from the ring right now and immediately become the best ringside commentator in the business
Just finished up AEW and NXT. I think I’m good moving forward on these empty shows. NXT ladder match was so heavily edited but I’m happy with the result. Io vs Charlotte should be great. Gargano and Ciampa was pretty solid. It kinda mirrored the Edge/Orton match just with a touch of boneyard cinematic efforts. They did a nice job of weaving the entire story with call backs and trash talk. The turn of Candice was very well done. The Cameo at the end of Killer Cross and his lady also so nicely done. With that said I’m done with all these shows... they just are beyond difficult to keep my attention span on. It just doesn’t feel right, doesn’t sound right and then some segments in tight as trailers with 6 people crammed in it just make you feel uncomfortable.
I thought that’s what she handed him before he entered the arena. When she hit him low I said that’s what he gets for ignoring his wife lol.
I thought season one of the series seemed to to fall of a cliff in terms of strength of the topics and how deep the dove into them. Seems to be the same case this season. The Eddy and Chris episode was very well done. And as each episode unfolds they get worse and the brawl for all seemed half assed. Some pretty good topics coming up including Snuka next week and Owen at the end. Hoping they match the quality of Chris and Eddy.
I know everybody hates the standard 20 minute promo openings to Raw nowadays, but I think we can all agree that they're still better than kicking things off with The Headbangers being led to the ring by ICP AE Rewatch Engaged
heh, an unidentified Steph was just used as fodder for Austin's rage backstage as he searches for the Undertaker, guessing that was her first time on the show
whoa what the fuck, Rock's coming out to a different theme here, basically a bootleg version of the bass line in Biggie's Hypnotize wouldn't be shocked if this was the only week they used it
Shinsuke was great. Matt Riddle...not shockingly...was like the same guy. I actually didn't recognize Adam Cole at first. Was waiting to see New Day making pancakes at home
