Also I choose to remember Sunny as the girl of my teenage dreams and the first girl young Bankz would wait hours for her picture to upload on dial up AOL so I could um.... admire
RAW talk fucking sucks. It’s just 30 extra minutes of RAW. Because giving WWE 3 hours on a Monday isn’t enough of an ask. You had pure gold in talking Smack and Vince has turned it into this polished turd.
The Slammiversary teaser features a drink being poured, then we see a shadowy figure in a hood sitting in a chair watching a news report. The report talks about the recent releases of "superstars" from their contracts due to the pandemic. Then we see a flashing series of images like the Bulgarian flag (obviously referencing Rusev), footage of Brian Myers a.k.a. Curt Hawkins, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, Rockstar Spud a.k.a. Drake Maverick, Eric Young , EC3 and Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis. We then see the reporter finish the news report, wishing the talent. "The best in their future endeavors." We then see a graphic revealing the Slammiversary pay-per-view will be Saturday, July 18th. Anderson said his non compete ends that week of the PPV fwiw
Impact could really use this influx of name talent. I also believe they have been putting out a good product but the issue is most of the talent is up and coming and doesn’t have the attraction. Nice move for the company
Should I not be? Definitely seems like he's cooled off since the beginning. Between new talent aquisitions and covid, it figures. But I've also only barely been watching so idk.
Never been able to get behind the gimmick. I know there is a lot of other dumb and crazy shit in wrestling but every time I see him I just think back to early 90's WWF and it makes me cringe.
No real reason not to be Tiff.. he's cooled off after the hammy but he's had no good feuds and hangs around Stunt.
I'm pretty meh on Stunt from the jump and haven't had my mind changed yet. Am a fan of Jungle Boy though. Again though, have only just been getting back into AEW after 3 or 4 months.
Can I just say AEW has made me love wrestling again? I get excited about Wednesday nights and actively plan around it. It's a fantastic product. Schiavone is low key the MVP. For some reason I just love listening to him announce. Maybe it's nostalgia I dunno. JR is slipping a bit, but is still better than most. But man that fucker is thirsty. It gets uncomfortable when Penelope comes out, he just salivates.
Like I shouldn't be surprised at all but holy fuck. They actually did a pretend release to work an underdog story line, while countless people were legitimately fired. What the fuck
Britt Baker went from one half of the worst parts of the first AEW show (the other being the Librarians) to being one of the very best parts of Dynamite.
Was this confirmed somewhere? Because that’s still a rather large assumption. It’s entirely possible and more likely he was let go and agreed to work those set dates. His video went viral and WWE decided to bring him back.
yeah I doubt he would've been included as part of the group EC3's been cutting obviously professionally made promos for if his release was a work from the jump
It was either A) They never really fired him but instead fired a bunch of other people and used that to tell a story with Drake. or B) They fired him but kept using him to finish out his dates, he got over, so they felt the pressure to bring him back. I think B is the more likely scenario, but that's only because I subscribe to the "don't attribute to malice what can always be attributed to stupidity" philosophy. WWE's "creative" team is not good enough, or capable of enough foresight to do option-A.
I'll go ahead and assume the worst from Vince. Think he would have been written out of the tournament very quickly if they had any plans to dump him.
I'm about to look way too into this so fair warning. Xavier Woods and Tyler Breeze battle of the brands this season they used active wrestlers. Drake Maverick was one the guys they were using. The week of the releases, I'm sure by WWE request, all released wrestlers were removed from their video game and replaced by others. Drake was replaced. I dont think WWE thinks ahead enough to try to pull one over on people by having a YouTube show remove a fake fired wrestler. But who knows
If you wanna believe the dirt sheets, brother! they've been using the pandemic to retain some guys at dirt pay deals
I have watched barely any wwe recently, but I still spend probably 1-2 hours a week watching videos on UUDD. I also love how they take shots at wwe every now and then and probably realize Vince or any of the higher ups don't watch their videos and don't care. Cesaro, Breeze, Woods and Adam Cole have a series now where they play uno and losers have to sing a song at the end. Last two weeks they've made woods sing the Brodus and R Truth theme songs as a rib because apparently Woods was pissed when he got called up he didn't get a theme and came out to those two songs.
I watch BOTB, any UUDD (LRLR) title match, and watched the roll out s3 with Freddie Prinze. And I listen to the New Day Podcast. I haven't watched WWE this year really. Into last year probably. Not sure the last thing I saw, maybe part of rumble?
No, Vince is not that deep to do that kind of work. If there is one thing we all know for Vince is he likes money. He released drake but let him work out his dates. Drake went viral and sold some merch in the process. Vince noticed and brought him back
I don't know. I'm getting more pessimistic about my fake fighting as I get older. Don't think they ever risk any possibility of any wrestler they know is heading out the door possibly going out with any sort of rub at all. If there were any sort of decision where he was possibly gone for real, he gets buried early.
recently? i obviously haven’t been watching much. that’s awful I thought he’d been released a while ago.
Yeah he had an interview one week, squash match the next and one more interview the following week. At that point he wasn't on screen again. It made sense for a bridge feud for Drew given the 3mb connection
