TIL Naka is the IC champ. How long has he held that now? I feel like I had this revelation 6 weeks ago and haven't seen him since. Granted I haven't been watching much.
The problem is they didn't just let her shine in the best way they could have...which was just always bright, happy, colorful, and giving out hugs. As a person, she is incredibly likable. Like it's easy to want to be friends with her. And that's where they should have went with without wavering. Once they tried to make her emotional and sad and whatever half-assed-emotional-story they tried to tell and especially with the Sasha therapy crap, a lot of that just went away. You could have made (and still can, honestly) a just real person that little girls would love to look up to. And never turn her heel or go away from that. Again maybe in that sense not the best smark-favorite, but an absolutely fan and kid favorite.
I don't know what gets me more upset about the current product, that after the Summerslam build and match that Shane is still around or the fact WWE will bot promote any female wrestler that is not a 4 horsewoman (either incarnation) or Natalya. I kind of have stopped caring about the women's division all together, so I guess that is slightly less annoying to me. But come on, how many times do we need to see Bayley v Charlotte or Becky v Charlotte? Bayley and Natalya are the most boring plain wrestlers on the roster and I just can't get behind seeing Charlotte fighting for another title. Those segments have become a skip for me. At least Heel Sasha v Face Becky feels a little fresh so I can get behind that.
Curious to see how AEW does the ladies, I've never been a big female wrestling fan but maybe they can rope me in. I dont think their roster is as talented as WWE, but I am looking forward to Hikaru Shida vs Riho at All Out. And we'll get to see Ivelisse again in the battle royal, she was great in LU. Plus Kris Statlander rumors who I've read is amazing.
I won’t touch the female topic because it’s clear there should only be one world title and a set of tag belts. Especially since you have done away with brand splits. All the positive momentum WWE has gained with KO seems to have been trashed the last two weeks. KO acting like a bitch over 100k fine. Then begging and being a bitch to have it lifted. Shane out smarting him at the end. Way to build up a baby face
Starting to buy Page in this spot Jericho should win....there are more directions you can go. But I think the crowd is going to be solidly behind Hangman.
They've done an amazing job building him up post Fight for the Fallen where his match was way too long and boring. Also, the ordering food thing from yesterday made me feel like he could actually win. Though if I had to bet i'd still say they put it on Jericho to start.
I don't think you can start a national TV show with Hangman Page as champion. Jericho is winning. Need to draw eyeballs to the product. Plus letting the baby face chase a bit is a good move
As ironic as it is for Jericho to blast WWE for having old Brock win a title over the younger talent on the roster, they booked in a way that I think Jericho probably needs to win but have a relatively short title reign
He'll legitimize the title for the casual audience that knows who he is, but I can't imagine his reign lasting too long. Not with Moxley, Omega, probably Pac, etc being on the roster.
He's up there, and they have a heel problem. His first 2 opponents were supposed to be Page and Omega. They feel he's up there with them.
They will have to book him as a top guy. They will eventually need to expand their roster because they have some top guys, but they are going to run out of fresh matchups quickly once they go weekly
To who? The smarks who watch 205 Live? To a broader audience he's a nobody that needs to be built up. He's a talented heel so he should get over quickly. He's not in the same ballpark as the others when it comes to who the casual fan will know
I would imagine you see a lot of slow burn feuds in a AEW and won't see the top guys each week. I could be wrong but you're correct with the lack of depth at the top of the roster.
I mean the casual audience doesn't even know who Kenny is. They'll only recognize a few people. All you have to do is watch Pac in the ring with those guys to realize he belongs... dude is talented.
To someone who doesn’t really follow this stuff I’m sure it looks hypocritical but for people like us in this thread, it’s the 180 degree opposite situation. Jericho winning gives legitimacy to a brand new title and puts him in position to put over younger talent. Brock winning does nothing for a title that has a storied history and he is never used to put over anyone. The latter part i don’t know if that is on Brock or Vince or both or what. I actually wouldn’t mind having Brock, even as a part time, as a world title holder if it ever lead to something.
to be fair, Brock winning by squashing John Cena in 2014 was supposed to lead to Roman Reigns being crowned the next top star at Mania 31. Vince nixed that when the fans revolted. The fact that Vince kept trying to make Roman happen between 2015-2018, despite fans refusing to buy-in, led to a lot of the problems with Brock. Blame Vince for that, however; he's the one who made the Mania 34 main-event Brock vs Roman (again), and had Roman walk away without the belt (again). That led to people saying "Brock isn't doing anything with the title" but Vince made it so the only alternative was "Roman winning the title," which few were really for, beyond a desire to see someone other than Brock win it, a desire that only existed because of the past several years of trying and failing to get Roman over. Weirdly, the only person Brock ever really put over as champion was Goldberg. You might throw Seth in there after their SummerSlam match this year, but that's it.
Alright fantasy bookers, you're Haitch and co, the word is Vince/Dunn won't be involved in NXT at least at the start. Bad ratings who knows... How do you build those first couple shows leading into 10/2, and what's your War Night 1 card look like to try and keep eyes away from AEW?
Probably 8 years old maybe? Thinking about renting it to determine our fantasy football draft order Setup a royal rumble, randomly assign wrestlers, let AI control them all, sit back and watch it go down.
Ok. It'd probably be fine for that. I haven't played it, but it does appear to have a Royal Rumble mode. Not sure how many you get to pick is the only question.
I recently got Smackdown vs Raw 2007 for my old 360. Was a fun playthrough, I got it inspired by Battle of the Brands on UUDD. I still haven't quite figured out GM mode, but I did the classic build a character and play the story.
Oct 2 card should be booked like a Takeover. Just wall to wall great wrestling with some big finishes.
That's what I'm thinking. I just wonder if they'll rely solely on their NXT talent, or use main roster folks as a crutch for it.
From what I've read I think 2k19 does 10/20/30 man matches. We have 12 teams so makes it a bit more complicated. Not sure if we just draw numbers and #1 is first wrestler to run out and so on but should be fun regardless.
NXT is already taped till the week prior to going live on USA. My guess is the next few shows lead to them having a Takeover of sorts the night AEW debuts.
I think that would send a seriously awful message to those who follow NXT and fear WWE/Vince will ruin it. I could see Alister Black or AOP returning but don't think you will see Kofi or Randy or someone like that ever show up on NXT.
