Man I love Mox so much. I think he also fits in great with AEW's talent. Do you really think he'd go back to WWE?
Tony Khans purse strings tighten up and wwe offers him a ton more money who knows. You never say never in wrestling
As long as AEW can pay good money and are only running one night a week, I don’t see a lot of people leaving. The schedule and the ability to monetize yourself outside of AEW is huge for a lot of people.
I don’t see a real threat to MJF going to WWE. None of the brands suit his language and that character is a lot more boring if he has to do it for a PG audience.
Problem is that sets a precedent that others are going to repeatedly try to use/abuse, and then you either reject all of them, approve all of them, or start playing favorites. There's probably quite a few that could get more as a free agent, especially if they are still on their original contract when they signed in the early days, it's risky territory when you don't know what your future TV renewal and streaming deal is going to end up being given the recent cost-cutting changes with Warner/Discovery.
Conversely, he's going to get significantly less time with his family by going back to WWE unless he gets some Lesnar/Reigns type deal where he's not having to do like 75-100+ house shows every year. Money can't buy back that time. Sure he opts to do indies/NJPW and what not, but that's his schedule he has control over. With WWE, you don't have your own schedule, WWE makes your schedule.
They had to have lost a ton of money so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tony got told to slow down. Especially with the changes at Warner Media. Maybe explains his recent outburst.
Yes MJF does a ton of PR for himself and AEW currently and does it on PG platforms and can get himself over with the restrictions. He's more than a Miz but I see why some comp them. lol... this is so stupid. How many people move the needle in AEW like MJF? Now of those guys you are thinking of... how many are likely signed to a low dollar contract. He's a stud, you bill him and hype him as a pillar of AEW and now you refuse to pay him when he's clearly producing as an elite talent? gtfo... It's a work or TK is a fucking dipship business man. I'll lean on it being a work.
Its a private company so official numbers aren't going to be public like WWE, but one would guess if AEW was profitable TK would have the word out either by his own self promotion or leaked to Dave so he can post it in his news letter. Its under water and that's ok, they expected as much in the early years. TK was willing to get hammered early from interviews he conducted early on. Warner owns a portion of AEW, it's next TV contract will be bumped up even though they have flatlined/dipped some. Dynamite is still doing decent numbers. Will it be 4x the current deal that some have predicted? Doubtful. Could it be moved to a True TV? Maybe... but its going to have a TV home somewhere and the new deal should help get them closer or into the green.
They definitely expected to lose big money until the next tv contract, but some of their spending seems crazy even besides signing every free agent. Rumor and innuendo is they are 80 million in on the video game which has been an ordeal and spent 40 on ROH. Going from major spending to not running the west coast anymore because gas prices are too high makes me think someone told him to reign it in. Maybe somebody with a mustache.
They sold out the LA show. I believe 15k+ That's crazy impressive. Shame if they had to cut back touring. 40m I believe is out of TK pocket and not his daddy's money. It's why its loosely aligned with AEW and not a AEW brand. Either way I believe you're correct. They are in a holding pattern till the new TV deal get's hammered out.
Pretty sure the answer to this question is nobody outside of Punk/Danielson Think his segments almost always get the highest quarter ratings.
AEW doesn't own ROH, Tony Khan does. Also, this But yeah they are way overbudget on the video game. I think the game is going to end up being a big disaster for them.
The logo is cool... his placement of the tattoo is terrible. I bet those things become a top seller. I believe it was on shoemakers podcast that his co-host said he get's the feeling Cody is going to be pushed as the next Hogan. You can see the machine is very much behind Cody. Good for him, hopefully he can deliver.
Exactly... I'm sure TK would gladly pay anyone who's going to match or top those numbers. Because not many can do what those two and MJF can do. I go back to TK isn't a stupid businessman, this screams work.
/buys $400 of temporary Cody neck tats. Maybe they will release a line of business casual polos with the logo on it.
How bad must creative have been to just walk out of a #1 contender match? Was she going to get squashed (figuratively) by Doudrop or Nikki? Or start the break up of the team?
Something about the way Lacey Evans is being presented is making me uncomfortable. Probably something to do with the over patriotic pandering.
Don’t see a straight walk out happen too often like, Austin, Punk and ??? Competition is good for workers
Who knows about the language of the contract, but Sasha has WWE by the balls because WWE loses their minds over their “sports entertainers” being in the mainstream. They try to capitalize on that every avenue possible.
That’s an aggressive statement by WWE, which makes me think these bridges are burnt to the ground Or it’s a work, brother
Sasha is the modern day HBK… good on the mic amazing in the ring known for taking his/her ball and going home Im sure cooler heads will prevail… maybe they can just kill these tag titles once and for all.
Isn’t Naomi with one of the Uso’s? I predict a lot more DUI in their futures if their driver is gone.
This isn’t the first time Sasha has walked out. Whichever Uso is married to Nikki recently said she would be joining the bloodline. Assuming this was the set up to that but I don’t know why Nikki would walk over that angle.
I assume this was about either: 1) the tag division being cobbled together one team at a time and them looking like weak champions to only ever defend it against teams that won’t exist a month later, or 2) making Naomi become the #1 contender to be fed to either Bianca or Rhonda and that making the tag champions look like an afterthought
With all those hours of content to fill, and all that money to burn, there is zero excuse for WWE not to have a robust mid/undercard. At the very least they should have regular stories for their champions.
It was pretty clear the card fell apart last night. They stuck to the schedule until Cody Rhodes cut his Hell in a Cell promo and then it all went to shit. They drug out Ezekiel v Chad Gable, which was arguably funny as shit because KO was on commentary. Then the next half hour was filled with recaps from earlier in the show until they trotted Asuka v Becky Lynch out in the last 10 minutes. In the time I’ve been back to watching Raw weekly, it has improved dramatically but last night does go to show that they don’t have a plan B much of the time.
I want to be outraged for them, but that booking is like the exact same thing WWE has been doing in both divisions for a long time. either you're the champ or you're not - none of the other belts really matter. seems more like a straw that broke the camel's back situation though than just one really bad incident. they've probably been frustrated for a while.
They have never given one fuck about the women's tag titles and it’s part of the reason Sasha left after Mania a few years ago.
It feels like they might have been irritated about the booking. But bigger issue was the producers who spoke to them in what seems like a very unprofessional and very disrespectful way. I’m really curious who the producer was, typically TJ books the ladies. And he gets pretty good reviews from talent when he’s mentioned. Given WWE let out an official press release it wouldn’t surprise me if this was Hayes… or he was the second “person in charge” who also told them to change the attitude.
