They’re gonna to have to pay it off soon.
I hope the swerve it and Sami turns on them.
I would assume Sami gets included with the Bloodline in the War Games match and takes the pin, causing The Bloodline to turn on him and setting up a Roman/Sami match.
Sami taking the title off Roman would make him the top baby face in the company. Always thought Cody would win rumble and take it off him but this is set up perfectly.
Do they have the stones to put it on Sami though? This is a fairly historic run for Roman.
Sami winning at Mania 40 would be a great way to continue the "underdog/little guy gets his big moment" streak from past ten-year Mania anniversaries.
Sami is not going to be the one to take it off Roman. It is Cody or somebody not on the roster right now.
I think Sami is destined for a program with Solo, I don't think he gets Roman.
Always thought it seemed pretty clear the payoff would be KO saving Sami and teaming up to win the tag titles from the Usos
No fucking way are they blowing that payoff on Sami.
WWE really fucked themselves into a corner with this Roman streak to the point that no one feels worthy of ending it. Honestly "blowing it" on Sami within the bloodline is god damn perfect. I just imagine a match where the brothers come in to interfere but have no idea what to do and are paralyzed by confusion and Sami wins.
Sami is one of my favorite wrestlers but no way in hell he’s taking the belt of Roman. That’s silly talk
Brock or McIntyre will eventually win the belt. Those are the type of people that win the world title in WWE. Maybe Cena comes back for one last run.
Honestly wouldn't hate Cena.
If they are smart, they put it on Cody, Bray, or Drew. Putting it on Cena or Brock again does nothing and makes Reigns run even more stupid.
It’s the WWE it’s all stupid
CM Punk comes back and wins it and tears both quads trying to jump the barrier and escape through the crowd
a bunch of people tuned in to the US Open to see Serena make one last run, you seriously think fans (the actual paying fans, not internet neckbeards) wouldn't want to see one of the biggest legends ever make one last run at the world title? cmon
I know it's wishful thinking
I don't think we have enough of a sample yet to know what the Triple H-booked WWE looks like, tendency-wise.
The single worst thing they could do, even worse than Brock winning it, would be for Cena to win it. On paper you can make the argument, but it falls apart once it happens. Cena's not even a part-timer anymore. He's, at best, a twice a year performer. You don't end a long title reign like that by putting the belt on someone who isn't going to be around even some of the time.
There's a story there with Cena chasing the record-breaking number of title wins, but that's something you do under different circumstances, not with a year+ title reign.
If you go this route you almost immediately need a MITB cash in on Cena. Roman gets a worthy loss while the title stays on tv
He has a point
Glad Tony is starting to handle these things better.
You could put it on Cena and then put it on Cody Bray or Drew and it would do the same thing.
That would work if it was a PPV format. They don't get any extra money for more viewers on Peacock. If it happens at WM, that event sales itself to begin with no matter what the card is. You don't end a 2 + year reign on a guy thats not even going to be there the following month.
You have still then wasted a 2 + year title reign by letting Cena end it. Why do that? Give the rub to someone who needs it and can run with it.
Unless you have the MITB winner cash it in and win either after the match or pretty quickly afterward.
Still does nothing. You either have him beat Cena who just had a match so its a cheap win or vice versa with Reigns. Puts no shine on them. To end Reigns streak and it mean something, it needs to be a clean 123 finish.
Do you see Theory cashing in successfully?
Bray is over
Apparently Warner can’t make up their mind about when they want Rampage to air next week
Hopefully he starts putting his foot down more and getting shit organized.
This is absolutely the right move. Khan has made it a point to see contracts through, and pay the guys for the duration of it. You can’t set a precedent or guys will demand releases when the slightest bump in the road comes along. I do think it’s a different set of rules for WWE. They will cut your ass on a Tuesday afternoon just because.
It’s amazing how fans enjoy deciphering Easter eggs about a popular wrestler returning and yet don’t want to google an indie guy coming in to do a job and then probably never be seen again for months, that guy really has it figured out alright
If Triple H were gonna favor anyone to end the Roman streak, it feels like it would be one of his NXT guys.
Owens is already super over and doesn't need the rub.
Sami is fine in his current role and I can't see a guy refusing to go to SA getting a main title.
Ciampa would be a risk.
Cody is a hard sell for me unless Vince demands it by proxy.
Would be a good way to make a returning Bray Wyatt actually look like a monster heel. Gargano for the feel good story? Would be a hard sell.
If Gargano beats Reigns for the title, I will never watch WWE or possibly wrestling again.
Ronda over Roman
The premise that Reigns being champ for 2 years is wasted if certain people win is very stupid to me.
How so? You don't think somebody could benefit by being the one to end the most dominant title reign of the last 20 + years? Nah, let's let Cena do it.
This isn't 1985 where fans are waiting for promotions to tell them who to cheer or boo. Or who is good and who sucks. I would have loved for Drew McIntyre to win at the last PPV. Would have been a cool story, and he's got the credentials to do it. But I don't think the fan base suddenly views McIntyre drastically different if he'd won it than they did before. Same as anyone else winning it.
Sami Zayn beating Roman Reigns wouldn't make the audience suddenly view Sami Zayn like someone different than they thought for the last decade. Same with Owens, Rollins, or anyone else. That's just not how it works anymore.
Kross after defeating Drew
If Cena came back and wins out of nowhere and then never shows up on TV to defend the title or carry the show, I agree that would be a waste of a moment.
But there's absolutely a story to be told about Cena chasing one last ride and going after one of the most dominant title runs in the history of the promotion. And if they told that story well, it wouldn't be a waste of anything.
Only if he wears the helmet again.
And that's the problem WWE has, even with Triple H at the book. They don't really have anyone that deserves the rub from ending Roman's run.
Vince built nobody and nobody from Hunters stable of flippity Indy midgets really makes any sense.
I obviously don’t know Cena’s schedule but if he could commit to about a show a month from Royal Rumble to Wrestlemania and the PPV after there’s plenty you could do with that.
The fact that Smackdown ratings are great these days with Roman only on every few weeks shows you can pull that off.
What you need is a believable babyface who can go toe to toe with Roman but also is seen as a bit of an underdog and is already over…
So I propose that Big E returns and wins the title in a wheelchair match.
First one to knock the other out of their wheelchair and make a part of their body above the knee hit the floor is champion.
I've seen a few people suggest Roman vs Seth for the title at Royal Rumble in a ladder match. Seth pulls down the RAW title and Roman the Smackdown title. Roman continues his 2 year run and you have the other belt off him without a pin. Seth still has his number and the title can be featured on RAW. Cody wins the Rumble and you have him deciding between Rollins and Roman. One guy put him out for months the other holds the title he's dreamed of having his entire life.
I think that's the best route to take... But I can see people being critical of the ladder match ending.
Nador is just a shill... every twitter asshole who post's a slightly positive AEW take that pairs with a jab at WWE is getting posted itt.
