So if AEW is going to run with an Embassy vs. FTR/Joe/Wardlow program, who will be the 4th member of the Embassy?
well most importantly WWE will always be able to pay more, plus he still has friends there and Vince is gone
Doesn't seem like money is his primary motivator and it sounds like he hated WWE, with or without Vince.
I don't know. That seems like quite the Hot Take. He's probably getting paid real well to work a less grueling schedule. I think if I were pulling in seven figures, my primary focus would be to work less on a weekly basis, too.
Don't see how it's a hot take. It's a business where your max earning capability is in a relatively short window, and will leave you with lifelong pain/injuries. Make every dollar you possibly can, the money is the only real thing in the industry. I'd say the same thing about a football player taking less money, but at least in that the championships are real.
Declaring he took the AEW deal is what I would consider a Hot Take. His character or brand in AEW has more value compared to being some LOL GOOFY mental patient in WWE where it's anything but a guarantee that he would be with the company to see his entire contract. He's setting himself, his family and future generations up no matter what he decides but you seem to have some odd fixation that he can only make money in WWE.
I mean its 5 years. No reason he can't go back on a legends contract in his 40s. Plus he made WWE money for a decade so he's not like an AJ Styles coming late to finally get his due respect/money.
Obviously he can make lots of money in AEW but I think if he forced a legit bidding war he could've scored an even bigger contract from WWE (or AEW). I'm not sure his brand has more value in AEW, I've never seen him in anything mainstream outside of AEW but maybe with this contract they'll guarantee him some looks on Turner shows and other crossover appearances. This is true. I guess he just has to hope AEW is still at a level 5 years from now where they are still realistically trying to compete for talent with WWE.
It’s weird, especially in this day and age, to see people completely discount happiness when talking about work. Quality of life matters
I think anyone in either company that doesn’t hear out what the other company would offer is a total mark.
this board literally exists because had opinions on where 18 year olds decided to play college football, having opinions on free agency in wrestling isn't that much worse
Just saying Vince wasn’t your friend, the WWE board isn’t your friend, and as much as he tries to be Tony isn’t.
Switched off Impact Bound For Glory last night when AEW started but finished it today. THe women's and men's title matches that came on during AEW are must watches.
Wouldn't be shocked if he's just a distraction tonight that leads to a storyline. Bray is awesome but his matches aren't the best so I wouldn't mind if he has a stable again with some followers like Kross or someone who can have some matches working with Bray
wouldn't be surprised to see them throw out a few in-person red herrings if they don't pull the trigger tonight
To be fair it's been going on a while for those paying attention, but I think Friday was the first time anything actually appeared on the program. Casual fans may not know anything about it. Everything else was done at live events and commercial breaks and hidden QR codes to lead you online
I know I’m going to get hate for this but I can’t imagine doing so much work for a wrestler as average as bray Wyatt. Like he’s fine but that’s it.
He was their top merch seller when he was last there. He makes hella money for them. That’s all the reason they really need.
I was and then it just never went anywhere. Then they changed his gimmick and it also didn’t work. He’ll come back and be hot and then everyone will remember there’s just not a lot there.
Dude… Brett Hart Austin Brock Goldberg Punk are all names he let walk out or away from the company when they were his biggest draws. Cmon dude. Vince has always had the mindset that WWE (himself) is bigger than the talent.
I read reports part of reason he got cut was he was having issues getting cleared in ring. Everyone only seems to remember the terrible ends to his runs but Wyatt Family v Shield was one of best things in WWE in years and early fiend was so hot the networks were fighting over which brand got him. He's gotten himself crazy over twice already
