I've watched a few minutes here and there on youtube and it seems like a decent offering from the edgier niche it fills
Was it a violent armed robbery or something? Seems wild that an arrest at 18 would preclude someone from the larger companies in this business over a decade later.
it's weird how in AEW the opening segment is basically the main event bc of the Big Bang Theory lead-in audience
I'm not sure of the specifics crazy thing is Umaga's son spent 6 years in prison too for aggravated robbery
I mean it still is professional wrestling. Booker T and MVP served time and they are basically employees for life. I don't think there would be any real backlash unless it was something really bad like domestic violence or sexual assault. I am not as up on the indy scene as some, but he looked to be the hands down biggest talent not signed to WWE or AEW.
don't mean the match itself, think this one makes sense as an opener, just lamenting him coming out before the challenger for a title match
Takeshita/MJF and Danielson/Rush were both incredible matches made that much better by this crowd. Well done, El Paso.
did I miss where Mox/Yuta/Cesaro said they have beef with Bryan now? He gets attacked all the time and they never ever come to his rescue
The wrestling tonight has been great, which will make it hard for the Gunns/Acclaimed to deliver. I expect the Gunns to win when Billy turns on the Acclaimed though, so the crowd will be wild I am sure.
The Gunns might have the worst music I’ve ever heard. I guess they screwed up the timing on this ending a bit.
I’m willing to overlook the super lazy booking of 2 hot faces having to go through gauntlets AT THE SAME TIME to get to the heel they’re after because they’re cranking out BANGERS
Tony said on his podcast that they want to start the show off with a bang to entice people to stay to watch more. Most weeks it seems to work for the first hour then generally drops off after that.
First time I heard their music I hated it. Then I loved it. Now I can't get enough of it. It's an earworm for sure. If you're putting the titles on them, turn Billy. I'm not for putting the titles on them fwiw. I would've circled back to the Lucha Bros immediately after they lost the Trios title and catapulted Pac into a singles feud. Maybe Joe?
yeah that was weird the finish felt flat because everybody was expecting the big turn or just any angle at all and instead it was pretty cut and dry then to have the Acclaimed awkwardly stand there while their music plays was bizarre, it almost made me think they were gonna do the old NXT Takeover deal where you flash the credits and the big storyline happens after when you're not expecting it
I didn't necessarily mind the Gunns winning the tag titles, thought it felt like the next step for that belt. I just didn't like how it played out last night. They are a good promo, especially Austin, will be interested to see how it plays out from here
he’s talked about his struggles with depression and mental illness a lot. He’s clearly struggling right now and I hope he gets the help he needs
reads like the texts I used to get from my alcoholic friend when he'd be on one, lot of dramatic thoughts to unpack at once that just leave me unsure as to how they tie together
His mental health isn't his fault and I hope he gets help but it's also not everyone else in the locker room's problem to fix for him either. It seems like everyone he runs into is an asshole, wonder if he'll ever figure out the common denominator.
