It always makes me laugh how such a shitty finisher gets used for so long. It's like when the Franchise's finisher was a belly to belly suplex? I was like, seriously?
He's contracted to appear a few times a year on WWE tv to shill the beer and his next appearance will be this upcoming Saturday Night Main Event
This is likely a hot take and one that may look horrendous down the road... Roxanne is mid Trick isn't ready to lead a brand it's good they are taking the title off him... but I think he's getting a call up and he's probably not ready for that either.
He may not ever be a 5 star match guy, but Trick connects with the audience…and you can’t teach that.
Haven’t seen enough of his bell to bell work to have an opinion, but the few one in one matches I’ve seen have not left a particularly good initial impression. And seems like that’s the criticism I see most often with him. That wouldn’t have necessarily been a problem in the Vince era because that POS didn’t care about wrestling, but in the Triple H era you kind of have to be able to go in the ring and really the only exceptions seem to be popular veterans. It’s still something they can work around and find value out of him because he does seem to do a good job getting over with the fans and making them feel something in the WWE system. And frankly that’s more important than anything else. I mean guys like the Miz didn’t get over in WWE because he can put on a banger match, after all. Even in AEW the key to success is being able to connect with the fans. Sure you can get there in a different route than in WWE, but Jericho aside, TK isn’t putting belts on people who the live crowd doesn’t give a shit about.
Roxanne is going to be one of the types that can be much better than most of the current midcard, but certainly not a Stratton level prospect, and part of that is she’s also tiny. I’d probably bring Trick into a tag team for like the first year of his main roster run.
I don’t know why he took a shot at TK. Don’t think that was needed. Steven Jones gets very little heat in Dallas and has a much larger role in the org. But yeah I’m sure they will be going after Mad Dog next.
I'm not I'm not familiar with who Steven Jones is but when you show up to draft day/week to push a wrestling angle and your wrestling company (they filmed TK all week for NFL Films) while your team goes down the dumpster, I'm sure that doesn't sit well with people. Gives off the impression that you're just using the Jags franchise for your other work.
I think he used to have more of a role. His first company was some sports analytics venture that he trying to be the face of (back in the early AEW days when he got his haircut and didn't dress like a bum). He had that twitter spat with a player holding out which isn't really something people in that position should do. Also, it does warrant mentioning that NFL Owners are subject to the same conduct and substance policies as the players.
haven’t the Jags been near the entire bottom of the barrel when it comes to those NFL players surveys where they grade the facilities etc ?
They had rats in the locker room I think which if you know downtown Jax is not surprising. They did get a brand new practice facility and the stadium is getting renovated starting next year.
From the NFL Films thing it seemed like one of his biggest jobs was recruiting undrafted free agents. I know he does significantly more with Fulham than he does the Jags. At this point the Jags are probably a distant third at best if you ranked the importance level of his position within all the different ventures he’s involved with.
Sounds like those recruiting people that set up cookie cakes. Wining and dining is not personnel power.
Happy Kenny Omega Day to those who celebrate. I have no idea what AEW has in store for him other than seemingly Okada at All In, but whatever it is I hope it’s good, and most importantly I hope he is presented like the beast that he is.
Hell of a match with Will and Buddy. Also really liked the promo after pumping up Buddy. I feel that type of promo is really missing with AEW to make you care about a wrestler so that was good. Then came Private Party entrance which looked like an opening scene to Bar Rescue. Jesus.
TK is involved somewhat with the Jaguars and neither one of them take running an NFL franchise seriously. I think it's fair to call them both out.
I noticed that too. He’s obviously never been particularly muscular, but in ROH and NXT he was at least toned, would make a big difference if he got back to that at minimum.
49 but wrestles and looks physically like a guy in the prime of their 30s. Truly is remarkable. And his style fits in perfectly at AEW.
Hurt Syndicate got to win those tag belts now. AEW has never put it on a meaty team before and it can instantly boost the credibility of the tag titles after the tag division has been in complete disarray for quite a long time now.
Sounds like it was done because Malakai Black is looking like he is on his way out based on what people in AEW have told Fightful. He was supposed to be under contract until 2027, according to TK himself, but that was due to option years. So either AEW picked them up and is releasing him or they opted to not use the option years. Always wish he would have been used better, but it’s clear by this point they’ll never have any sustained plans for him so just letting him go is the right thing to do. Doesn’t benefit anyone involved to have someone that you like enough to push from time to time but never commit to anything. Cut them loose and reduce the roster bloat a bit.
Undertaker is the only supernatural wrestler that works and even he had to switch to the American Badass to switch it up a bit as it was becoming stale.
the best version of Bray on the main roster wasn't really supernatural though, he was simply a creepy backwoods redneck cult leader, that is entirely a logical/plausible person one might encounter in real life. The Fiend, while fucking awesome visually, was never going to work once you had to apply actual logic to the character
I loved Firefly Funhouse/Fiend the best from a creativity standpoint. I think they only messed it up by making him so much like Friday the 13th Jason though. Like the burned version is cool in theory and visually, works great in a horror movie, etc., but I don't think going that far with it works in reality.
Other than the black mist, which is just a tired out concept in general, there never really was anything supernatural about Malakai's character
Seems a pretty big part of his character. Although less so in the past couple of years. Also the showing up out of thin air and leaving when the lights go out.
I've never really considered that supernatural because it's never really been sold as being out of thin air. Plus others historically have done the same type of thing as special occasion with it never being considered supernatural.
