So do those people tune in next week? I think there was a way to present that promo, if that's the promo they wanted to go with, and it not be a letdown. Agree with Sub-Zero, it shouldn't have closed the show. I open the show with it, and have Punk end his promo with something along the lines of "I'm looking for my first fight." Throughout the show different guys jockey for their spot against Punk, Pearce says he'll have an announcement at the end of the show revealing Punk's first opponent. You keep the Punk hook going without his promo feeling like a letdown. If you're not ready to reveal his opponent, you can swerve it at the end. Lights go out, somebody takes out Pearce, whatever. I would try to line up guys wanting to "fight him" to play off of what Seth did. Yeah we found out it was a work, but it was pulled off so well we didn't know that for sure at first. Play off his faux heat with the locker room, make his return feel different than anybody else. Instead, his promo was basically "I'm a changed man, my wife says hi, I'm back." It just missed the mark for what should've been a huge event.
yea I'm not fantasy booking Raw I don't care that much. I think it was pretty much common sense to put Punk last.
It’s been that way… part of the reason they have kept the titles on the Bloodline and why they moved KO over. I believe Roman is off till January. But Logan is back this week.
I don't think he has to either. I want his first match back being the Rumble, with him winning it. I just wanted more last night, is all. If you circle back to all the bad blood, the podcast with Cabana, all the jabs he took while in AEW, it just felt like we needed more substance. It's weird, Orton's promo was more on the mark. Defined his purpose being back, who he was coming after, and built intrigue with Jey, who he obviously will go after before long.
Between this and he being upset he can’t be a wrestling star in AEW, QT might want to get a mental checkup.
“I want to be a wrestling star because I have good matches” “I quit AEW because they focus too much on matches” Like what?
I know I’m wired as corporate shill but I guess my question back is should the goal be to watch the show or should the goal be to maximize revenue but by thinking beyond the one hit. It’s a big moment/opportunity so I just think long term you maximize his live appearance. Give it as much time as it needs and make it earlier. at the end of the day it’s not a big deal and I don’t care that much but just looking at it that way.
People watching the show is maximizing revenue at this point since 3 hours is a ridiculously long time in general for a show. WWE has a new tv deal negotiation upcoming and TV people are dumb imo and will just see the initial excitement. I think that it makes more sense to care about WWE ratings because we know TKO is going to be super cheap if they have to rather than AEW where Tony seems to have unlimited funds at the moment.
Does any WWE talent actually live abroad? Also to move to the US during covid must have been the worst.
Wrestlemania 2024 is going to be incredible. Can't even begin to fantasy book before the Rumble, but with the addition of Punk and Orton...the entire card should be fire. What are some of the matches that are likely? All I can come up with now are: Roman v Cody II. Is Orton added? Rollins v Punk Do Priest and Balor shed the tag titles to free one up for Orton instead?
maybe Gunther vs Brock? Becky vs Rhea seems very likely. I think Sami is gonna win the Rumble and be part of the World Heavyweight title match
If I had to take a stab at it... Cody v Roman II Orton v Logan Brock v Gunther Seth v Punk Becky v Rhea Bianca v Jade Balor v Priest Jey v Jimmy LWO v Legado Cena v Solo II No idea what they do with KO, AJ, Sami, Drew, Lashley, Profits, Dom, LA Knight, Naka, Shamus, Miz.
forgot Jimmy vs Jey, that one definitely seems locked in. It could be Logan vs LA Knight unless they do that in January.
The amount of beyond over talent on the roster is insane. There will be people left off that fans will complain about.
QT should go to TNA... He's good backstage and trains talent. He would get screen time as well. I don't see any future for him in WWE on TV. A trainer in NXT sure...
I don’t think it’s really possible for a full-time talent unless they get some sweetheart deal where they only have to do TV one day a week with no house shows and don’t have to show up unless they are going to be used.
Wasn’t there a story out there with QT being the reason Shaq never came back. It was something weird like QT lying about a crash pad being there or something to get him to do the table spot.
Wow so Punk's friend Bryan Danielson was heading up the discipline committee that made the decision to fire Punk
Worked for smaller that did but agreed not weird for it to be combined with their legal department, but to not have the head of HR unless it’s also the General Counsel not be part of the discipline committee would be weird.
Women’s division is solid but the men’s roster blows. Especially when the two main champs are part timers and tag belts are practically exclusive to Raw. Fox is probably on cruise control with SD because ratings are solid and less than a year remaining on the deal.
Judgement Day fucking blows now. They had the opportunity to do some great stuff with them but blew it, and does anyone wanna guess who runs Monday Night Raw?
I can't watch a shirt burning video without hearing "it's time" repeated in my head due to that vol after kiffin left
K. So on one of the biggest traveling days of the year and when multiple football games are on and Smackdown is moved to another station that is limited in exposure entirely they beat Smackdown. They should do that and it shouldn’t be close. This isn’t a Young Bucks esque victory lap.
