AEW hasn’t really seemed to care about getting celebrities involved after like the first year or two when the appearances never really seemed to accomplish much of anything.
“Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward," said Shane, via Bully Ray.
Saw that Ricochet was trending earlier and thought maybe he did make his AEW debut, but it's for something else he's winning at better than almost anyone on the planet.
WBD-AEW exclusive negotation window ended this week, so seemingly that means it ran thru the end of July
I'd be interested to see who would even put in an offer given the situation. Would think most companies would be like "sorry but no thanks, you're just trying to use us as leverage to get a better deal out of WBD" given how open TK has been about wanting to stick with WBD.
Gross. Yeah, this boxer with a 9-5 record that's been a woman her whole life is a huge danger to other women
And also, who else would even be able to offer a package comparable to what WBD can do in terms of exposure on streaming? Especially with potentially that sports-centric service coming that is supposed to include TNT/TBS. And WBD is kind of a the forefront of getting their linear networks simulcasted on subscription streaming. I would assume Netflix wouldn't get involved given that whole WWE thing. Amazon Prime would be bigger than Max, but there's no linear TV component there. Disney+ is bigger, but Disney/ABC/ESPN has deals with UFC, which is owned by Endeavor, which owns WWE, so Endeavor might put a squash on that. Max is bigger than anything else remaining.
What if WBD isn’t looking to simulcast stream on Max and would rather keep it on Watch TNT. Also I guess depends if that is a priority over a network willing to pay more.
Yeah, this is not a knock on AEW in any way but there is really nothing out there for them other than WBD and WBD knows that.
There's probably more options out there if AEW is willing to shop linear and streaming separately. You kind of eliminate some good linear options by wanting to pair it with streaming. Paramount and Hulu are smaller than Max, especially Hulu, but they are connected to some comparable linear options to TNT and TBS. And obviously Amazon Prime has no linear option. But also, WBD is running out of options to beef up their carriage fee negotiations leverage with the loss of the NBA. They've signed some decent replacements but they are much smaller. The college football they got will pull some good ratings but it's only a handful of games.
Didn't name him, but everyone knows that's who she's talking about. Will be interesting to see if someone with more stroke calls him out. Would be pretty sweet if someone did.
If Logan Paul is just going to be allowed to post hate speech about whatever dumb cultural war bullshit the MAGAts are fueling then Sami should be allowed to post about Palestine.
Meanwhile Mustafa Ali is done with TNA, so seemingly no potential for him to pop up in NXT as part of the NXT/TNA crossover
He still double downed on the transphobia after retracting the spread of the misinformation too, just a garbage human. Walk into that AEW locker room and call Nyla Rose a man and you might end up six feet deep Logan. I'd be cool with Punk and Cody smashing his face in backstage this weekend too. Both open supporters/allies of the trans community. Or the entire locker room refuses to work with him after this weekend.
Infuriating how much Sami has had to skirt around WWE's social media rules even way before Palestine.
Paul has go away heat like prime X Pac to me even before the social media yesterday. Just don’t think he’s an effective character even though he has done pretty good in the ring.
Cody too MAGA pilled to do anything about it. Punk would get his ass kicked then tear something and be on the shelf for a few months.
Will be interesting to see how many wins the two of them can get and who they beat. That NOAH N1 field is pretty loaded, but lacks a bit of depth. They should each slot in to the lower half of their block and pick up some wins but have no business competing against the top few folks in their respective blocks. There's some Japanese legends in each block and some young talent that is either getting pushed bigly or is rising up the ranks that I doubt NOAH will want to take an L to secondary NXT talent that could very likely never step foot in a NOAH ring ever again. And Kaito Kiyoyima, the current NOAH champ, might just be the best under-30 talent in the world as far as bell to bell goes, or at least in the world outside of AEW/WWE. Don't know what his mic work is like because the whole language barrier thing makes watching Japanese promos kind of pointless for me unless there are subtitles, but man is basically the complete package bell to bell for TV wrestling.
But, but, I thought CM Punk was the problem and everything is all perfect in the locker room now. Jokes aside. I'm not even going to call out the culture there because I'm sure all locker rooms have issues, but they sure seem to have an issue with their stuff hitting the dirt sheets.
