Meltzer actually did have a great point when saying how good Vince Sr was at making stars that weren’t necessarily good in-ring wrestlers in the territory days, which was Vince’s ultimate influence…but you don’t have to hand it to him
Vince really was a fantastic PBP guy. And fuck you Hulk Hogan, fuck you forever. Although the Hulk/Andre presentation is so insanely good for that time.
One of my takeaways from the first few episodes is how disappointing it is hogan turned out to be such a shit human because you want to love the character if you grew up in that age group. He had arguably the 2 biggest moments in pro wrestling. Really sucks he’s so awful in real life.
When’s the last time there was even four wrestling shows on cable, back when ECW and WCW were still alive?
Raw, Smackdown, NXT and TNA in the early 2010s technically ROH was on cable too at that time on the channel that's now called AXS
3 episodes into the doc and so far I hate everybody featured, except for Taker. McMahon getting butthurt for WCW doing the same thing he did to the territories is peak narcissist.
There's a clip at the end of the last episode from an old interview (maybe the Playboy one? I forget) where Vince describes himself, and it's a surprisingly accurate description. More accurate than you would expect from a pathological narcissist at least.
He's without question my favorite dude in wrestling. I really hope before his time in WWE is done they give him a run with the title. He also happens to be my wife's favorite. So it would make the household very happy.
agreed. He and Sami both seem to be just really great guys. I’m not sure either of them will get a top of the card run in wwe which is why I’d love them both to go to AEW where I think they’d both get world title runs.
Kevin had that forgettable world title run. but I don't think either really care about that at this point in their careers. Kevin's even said as much.
right which is why I said selfishly. They’re making a ton of money doing what they love and seem perfectly content with where they are at
KO and Sami are in great spots. They can carry feuds, easily swap between face and heel, and can serve as transitional world champions.
Outside of a huge bag for them... I don't see the reason to make that move given how much tv time they get in WWE. It would be awesome for the AEW fans if they did make the move.
A lot of KO's title run was alongside Jericho and the list. That story overshadowed his run. How he dropped the title and then getting put 2nd on the Mania card was bullshit.
KO getting to hold the title while Vince was in charge is a miracle in of itself. But yeah, he got screwed during that run. His NXT run with Triple H booking was much better.
Everything under HHH has been better. Vince clearly lost it years ago... He could still pull off some "big" moments but the weekly stuff was horrendous.
Sami has shown he’s one of the best actors in wrestling and one of the best at evoking emotion so sure let’s put him back under a mask doing a stupid fake Mexican gimmick
In other, more positive news, Fightful reporting Adam Cole will be returning soon and creative has been planned.
NWA went from having a TV show on the CW linear network only to have it canceled before it aired, then to a streaming show on the CW app, and now to getting booted entirely from CW all in the span of like a year
