by allowing Sasha to beat everyone they have crippled the division. They have booked themselves into having to have Toni win right?
Steven Flowe v Mr Iguana needs to headline WM night one. Special guest ref the pizza guy from AEW. CoKane cashes in his MITB. Book it.
Good build for the women's IC triple threat. The look Lyra had tonight should be her wrestling look too.
Kaiser does do a fantastic El Grande Americano impression. Get that man in the midcard title scene after this angle is over.
I do think it’s kind of fucked up how comfortable people are attacking Charlotte on a personal level. It’s like everyone is progressive until it’s time to say Charlotte looks like a man. The marriage line is just kind of cruel from Tiffany, but that stuff has always been a part of wrestling. If I were Charlotte, I would hate tiffys guts though
didn’t Paige do a promo years ago talking about Charlotte’s brother dying? She’s been on the opposite end of some rough stuff on TV, let alone the hate she gets from the neckbeards online
What's the difference between the "0-3" line and "sunny days" its pro wrestling and lines will be crossed in promos. With that said it doesn't excuse people attacking her online... thats vile, nasty and unnecessary. Idk I just think she needs to toughen up when it comes to on camera stuff, because she's been in a bunch of spots where she's broken character like the Nia Jax match, Becky belt swap and numerous promos where the crowd got to her because they didn't want to see her in the main event picture.
I do think off camera relationship stuff should stay away not because it’s mean (it is) but because in keyfabe relationships are its own thing like any movie or tv show. Happily married/happily not single wrestlers act out on screen relationships all the time. So throwing off camera marriages into a promo just seems like bad product integrity.
I'm for bringing back as much kayfabe as possible. Not all of the personal promo shit works (I would say Tiff was a clear whiff) but other times it does. But on the grand scale it could just be done away with. One of the negatives with Trip in charge is he's the man in the center of the curtain call and he's green lit and very soon were going to see a doc about the writing room of WWE. So its peeling even more layers back.
Charlotte did say Ludwig slid in her DM's and I felt that was more of a wtf line than the divorce stuff. Charlotte handing receipts in the ring wouldn't be the first time, just ask Nia
I think part of it is Tiffany is so bad at promo's especially in the other ones before that one in the feud, she had to resort to something like that to get some heat into that program. It was floundering before then. Still maybe get stuff like that approved by the other side. And its really not different than the sunny days promo, and a bunch of "the boys" in shoot interviews openly talks about what a prick Shawn Michael's was back then. Doesn't make it right
WWE failed that feud because they thought Charlotte with such a long layoff would be welcomed back as a babyface, they even had her cut a promo as "Ashley" in hopes for sympathy but the crowd shit all over it. That forced them to turn a character much like a MJF who can never truly be a baby face. Its just a rich, entitled spoiled brat and how do you make people get behind that? But they forced it and the performer couldn't make it work... Even currently the baby face Tiff doesn't work, she even cut a promo as a heel against Trish and sounded great. They just need to have her continue to heel off and if the crowd cheers so be it... Much like Rollins and Bron.
not specifically referring to any of the people here, but some wrestling fans will talk about how they want kayfabe back but at the same time they’re knee deep in all the backstage gossip and follow the wrestlers on social media (where people are largely out of character.)
I'm one of those fans... I will consume all that they choose to put out. But I also don't advocate for them doing it and if it went away I would be ok with it. I think me being ok with it being taken away would place me in the minority of that group but I do think its best for the viewer that some of this stuff is scaled back.
as long as the crowd keeps going “ohhhh!!” every time an MJF or CM Punk brings up stuff like Mistico flopping as Sin Cara or John Cena “burying” people then the performers have no incentive to stop doing it. I think that is a pretty weak crutch to use (same with swearing) in interviews but it gets a reaction most of the time
Its the same as all the hard-core and flippy stuff, its a cheap pop that will eventually get old and just raise the bar what they need to do in the future. Should be saved for meaningful moments and not just used by someone because they cant cut a good promo otherwise
Wasn't the divorce thing a receipt of sorts from Tiffany from going off script in the promo about her real life boyfriend after other women warned her that Charlotte does that all the time and to be prepared for it? Or am I remembering that wrong?
Im pretty sure Charlotte mentioned Kaiser after the line by Tiffany and it appeared she really was flustered and pissed and that was what she could come up with in response on the fly. Tiffany said that line then immediately jumped out of the ring to try to avoid a comeback and Charlotte said that at her as she was walking away
There’s something about the women wrestlers that make people get really weird for some reason. Sean Ross Sapp has been on some bizarre crusade for weeks now to try and prove that Sasha Banks doesn’t have creative control in AEW
maybe an unpopular opinion but I think more wrestlers should be taking advantage of the social media landscape and building feuds off air. you're only guaranteed so much mic time, but you can post all you want on your IG page. obviously you have to toe the line and maintain the realism or you'll lose the attention, but if you do it right people will eat that shit up and you can get over big time on your own.
I think those are two different things though. Using social media to get over kayfabe feuds and beefs is utilized well and for sure a good thing. Someone like Chelsea Green is great at using her online persona as an extension of her character. Naomi i know is doing it now too. That's completely different to me than bringing up others very personal off air individual issues to get over a story especially when the other person clearly wasn't consulted nor approved it first.
agreed, but I think blurring the lines works really well when there is some real life stuff mixed in. doesn't have to be as serious as the Charlotte-Tiffany stuff.
I think when a real life situation has "broken contain" and reached the public in a pretty major way, it's absolutely the right thing to try and turn it into a storyline you can make money off of and recapture the narrative. Stuff like the Montreal Screwjob, Edge/Matt Hardy, Brawl Out (which they totally fumbled, obviously). If it's already happened and it's public knowledge, you'd be foolish to just ignore it or pretend to the audience it doesn't exist. But when you manufacture "real life" issues from scratch as a means of escalating a storyline, it just comes off as desperate and calls attention to how fake the rest of the stories on the show are.
Get in price for SNME and Evolution are way cheaper than any events in Atlanta in recent years. Would love to take my 7yr old to a show, but I'm also trying to convince my wife that we need to go the HR derby.
