I was intending to make fun of Vince’s schtick of always gimmicking guys with jobs with a modern example of it
So they had Solo Sikoa win the North American title. Hold it for a week. Then vacate it because he wasn't supposed to be in the match. Why the fuck would you have him win it to begin with?
Omega suspended at least through mid October. Konnan said he planned on headlining Omega at triplemania but was told by AEW he couldn't be used because of his suspension
Yeah, that will be the only time we ever see him with maybe an off chance of him coming back in like a Gilberg or James Ellsworth way, as a joke
Spoiler: Spoiler Either wwe is teasing Bray big time with subliminal messages, or they randomly put a lantern and fireflies on this poster
Danielson was the best heel in the business for like 4 or 5 weeks and then the whole BCC thing happened and killed it.
I think Danielson is getting the strap but MJF fucking him over would be a good way to get him back to heel status.
Danielson wins tonight after MJF does something to cost Mox. MJF then gets a big win over Mox at Full Gear before he eventually wins the title from Danielson. Meanwhile Danielson gets a few months to stabilize the belt and have bangers with all kinds of people before he loses the belt in Seattle.
doesn't really make sense I just think the fans want Danielson to win and denying that gets him back over as a heel.
All of wrestling is. WWE has it together for three straight weeks after two decades of hot garbage. It’s all bad.
I'm not speaking about the on screen product. I'm talking about his crazy fucking media appearances and statements. AEW on screen has been good for the most part. A few issues that was greatly impacted with backstage shit vs his actual booking. Vince should've stepped down from creative 20 years ago... Nobody would make a case against that.
If TK wilding out with the media clenches his performance thirst, then by all means, never stop. Anything to keep him from being an on screen character.
You're smarter than this. HHH can't pull WWE out of this contracted agreement. The point was HHH wouldn't have booked this if not for the pressure to probably provide this match for the Saudi's. These Saudi shows will largely be built as one offs vs part of ongoing storylines I would imagine.
Bring back NXT Regal type as commish. I think both WWE and AEW would be better served with a kayfabe commish that isn't a heel.
I am responding to the idea that Triple H wouldn’t do this show if he weren’t an Executive. He got back in shape specifically to work in Saudi Arabia in the past. He didn’t have to do that if he didn’t want to. And of course they aren’t going to give up the blood money. I mean the roster was held hostage on the runway while Hunter and Vince flew in a separate plane home. Nothing ever is stopping WWE from taking that dough.
The point I was making was the creative decision to have Logan Paul wrestle your Tribal Chief is only happening because someone in the Saudi royal family requested it, not because Triple H created the idea on his own.
I don't think that was his point. HHH is always going to be a company man. He's married to a McMahon. I agree even if he wasn't in his current role and just a wrestler he would be on those shows. I don't want this to sound like trashing the dude but morally I don't think he's above performing at those shows. He's already done so with DX.
Correct, and its pretty clear that they will deliver additional checks to get legends to return on the show. Taker, Kane, HBK, Goldberg, Lita all took that money and returned out of "retirement" to perform on the show.
I do enjoy him in his role currently. And he's pretty fantastic when going to the broadcast table. He get's people over and paints in the backstory like the legend he is. I'm just saying that both companies casting that character type commish would be great. Its only when you that evil commish that it results in eye rolling.
My favorite is the running joke where he hits on Excalibur by telling him he looks like some kind of dessert in a vaguely sexual way
wouldn't you want to leverage how unlikable he is into a character people can root against? He could've easily played into something with MJF coming back or he could get involved with a storyline with the Elite once they are cleared and the investigation ends and at least in both cases it'd feel like there was some reality to the storylines. Obviously I don't want him on screen cutting 20 minute promos but I think there's ways to use him, especially when your #1 bad guy is someone the audience deep down really wants to cheer
I like AEW not having an on-screen authority figure. Tony Khan is the booker and everyone knows it. Creating a kayfabe version feels needless. On screen, Khan is just "the GM" and signs and makes matches behind the scenes, leaving it to Schiavone and co to announce it. Khan's smart enough to know what he's got in Tony Schiavone. Putting him in the middle of the ring to announce "x will face y at the PPV for the title" creates a much better buzz and is a million times more telegenic. In the three-year history of Dynamite, TK has only been on screen like four times: The Brodie Lee tribute, the Owen Hart trophy ceremony with Martha, announcing the purchase of ROH, and the message announcing the suspensions of the world and trios champions. All of those were appearances made in his capacity as president of the company and only one (the suspension announcement) can be argued didn't need him and could have been left to the commentary booth. If WWE wants to have on-screen bosses, that's fine. They've mostly had them going back to the 80s, with different degrees of on-air attention, but I appreciate the few ways in which AEW can differentiate themselves from the template of WWE's on-screen presentation.
If the rumors are true about the battle royal... TK trying to channel his inner VKM. We are about to be sports entertained! People aren't going to be very happy if those are the massive surprises he's hyping
Do people want to see MJF leaving with the title tonight or Bryan? It seems like both may be in play given TK's recent media tour
I don't hate watch AEW. I enjoy most of the product. You rarely see my bitch about the in ring action or most of the storyline stuff. I just call out most of the fan base bullshit who kool aid pumps harder than I do for WWE. It's cool we all have our preferences and bias... Just about everyone has entered a corner at this point.
Why am I still not understanding this? Sounds like both MJF and tonight’s winner will get the same deal.
MJF gets to pick when he gets his shot. Winner of the battle Royal gets a title shot at a specific event.
