I once saw the movie "Alpha Dog" on a late Saturday night in a black neighborhood. Theater was full of teenagers and they had no qualms about piping up loudly with any comment that popped in their heads. "Damn Sharon Stone got a big ass head!"
My first memorable experience with the stereotypical movie going African American was 20ish years ago at a horror movie. Was an eye opening experience.
Saw Friday After Next in a crowded theater in high school. My buddies and I were the only white people. An old black woman lit up a cigarette and when a guy came in and told her to put it out she just walked out continuing to smoke it. Live commentary on the film and the older people yelling at the teens to keep it down, which resulted in a couple snippy exchanges. The whole experience was amazing.
