Even in this specific scenario, there are a multitude of ways that Miller could have criminal responsibility. To this point, the DA clearly doesn’t believe his actions fall into any of those categories, but it’s not because it’s impossible.
I’ve been waiting on a season like this my entire life. I’ll have issues enjoying watching us play the rest of the year. Senseless tragedy that could have been prevented. Now, a kid doesn’t have a mother bc he wanted to act tough and deliver a fucking handgun
He left the scene and pretended that he wasn’t there until he got caught in the lie when they popped in the tapes.
I’m talking about Miles in my post. It’s unclear what Miller did, but I doubt he stuck around. The Jeep got out of there somehow.
He's outnumbered at least though surely I've been on message boards long enough to know I'm going to hate the reaction
Listen dude, this shit is sick. But please decouple the rivalry here. You’re deriving pleasure from a murder. Makes me sad people are smiling over this.
I’m actually not it’s completely fucked up. Oates is tone deaf going to Ray Fucking Lewis. That was my point. Should have said it better.
regardless of fanbase the reaction is assured. It's fun to drag Alabama but nearly every fanbase will have a majority that will defend tribe over truth When the physical and sexual assault stuff came out about LSU my response both on and off this board was one of disgust, and I probably have less than 5 posts about LSU football in the past 3 or so years because I still find it disgusting that no one was held accountable. Within my immediate family most felt close to the same, but then I talked to my LSU roommate and others read some stuff online and most were either using Miles as a scapegoat and/or rationalizing. I keep using this word but it's disgusting
Sorry i haven't followed this too closely, but he brought the gun to the scene then used his car to block victims car so it couldn't leave and he isn't charged with murder because.... he's good at basketball?
This is a good summary of my thoughts: As for blocking in, the victims left immediately after the shooting. Not sure if that means Miller's car moved or it was just in the road and they went around it. I will say that the car blocking the road makes me think it's more likely that Miller came from a different location, saw Miles, and stopped in the middle of the road while Miles got the gun. Guess we'll see the video at some point.
Definitely was there. Was it there bc he parked it there 2 hours earlier and Miles went back to the car to get the gun? Maybe but seems unlikely bc it was in some way blocking the road so doubt it had been there long. That part makes me think Miller had just gotten there with the gun. If that's the case, fuck him.
No clue but I thought Miller came to the location in his car. I have no idea of the area but from one of the articles it sounded like he got the text and drove over to where the incident occurred because he wasn’t with the other 2 guys at the bar and went somewhere else after dropping them off.
I think it's most likely he was at a different location and drove to the shooting location, that's what the texts suggest to me, but I guess we'll find out more later. It's possible he'd just parked the car, it was close to the bar they were at, after dropping them off and went somewhere else. In the case Miles just went to the car and got his gun. Like I said earlier, if Miller was away and drove to the location with the intent of taking the gun to Miles, fuck him.
“I have no idea why the 11 year old asked me to bring condoms and Zima. Wrong place, wrong time I guess!”
The most charitable reading of Miller’s actions certainly falls into the, “indefinite suspension while we gather more facts,” zone. Deciding because he wasn’t immediately arrested that it is fine is fucking insane.
Does Bama not have a code of conduct? Seems like the school could suspend him while the investigation is ongoing
the investigation isn't ongoing. the whole thing is on tape. arrests were made and charges filed within 18 hours. all of these facts were known at the time. none of this is new to the school. so the question isn't whether he should be suspended until the investigation is over, but rather should he have been arrested, suspended, or expelled as a result of the investigation.
if Bama was their usual dogshit self at basketball, sure. you're insane if you think they care during this season, though.
He brought a loaded gun to a location that was then immediately used in a murder. This is behavior that typically raises serious questions that can’t be answered in 18 hours.
He brought the wrong murder weapon and used his car to block the victims in the wrong place at just the wrong time Very unfortunate
There has been at least conversation in the Alabama athletics office about how they don’t want to boot him him because if their QB does something similar they don’t want to set the precedent that they’d have to kick him off the team too
It definitely looks that way to me. That said, not to downplay any of this, but there's just a lot we don't know. We know he got a text and we know Miles got the gun from Miller's car but we don't know where Miller was when he got the text or what role he played. It's possible that Miller wasn't with the car, told Miles where it was, and Miles went to get the gun and Miller wasn't at the scene when the shooting occurred. Someone in the AD or the PD needs clear things up and connect some dots. If he drove to the scene and delivered the gun, fuck him.
Everything that he did is possibly criminal, but extremely difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. But, it’s enough to very, very easily justify kicking him off the team.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/news/story?id=4808530 What about the time Pearl kicked off one of his best players on a top 10 team for just having a gun?
I almost got kicked out of Auburn just for posting on the same message board that many of you harassed another Auburn student on. At the very least you would think being adjacent to murder, whether criminally or not, would result in Alabama doing more than *checks notes* absolutely nothing.
which, given the fact that its all on tape and the detective said millers statements corroborated the tape, leads me to believe he really didn't have much to do with it. yes, we all know how much a coach wants to win, but Byrne, Oats, the school president, sankey, et al., aren't ruining their careers to cover up for one star player for one year. that's why I think its important not to jump to conclusions until the facts are all laid out. if Brandon was involved more than we think, the tape and all other evidence will show it and i would hope justice be done.
Pretty easy, really. If they think they can get a conviction, they charge them. Charging Miles immediately was kind of aggressive.
