I have to say that white sauce does not sound appealing

 

It sucks.

 

Many are saying it’s so you can’t see the stain when it drips on their robes.

 

Could just leave BBQ out of the title and still be correct

For some reason, I remember dbl talking about ordering a comical amount of this stuff bc there was a shortage or something like that

 

Best pork I’ve ever had came from here, I’d assume the Alabama contingent can speak to Archibalds.

 

White sauce, when done right, is fucking delicious on chicken. Outside of that, there's not really "Alabama BBQ." Some places there make good Q but nothing really Alabama about it.

 

White sauce? Na. I did get a huge jug of sauce from Archibalds bc it's delicious though.

When I went to archibalds I was standing at the counter and a lady walked in with a big ass empty ocean spray cranberry juice jug and asked them to fill it with sauce and they did. Figured I was in the right space the .

 

It’s watered down mayo with pepper.

 

this sums up what everyone not from Alabama thinks Alabama looks like and frankly, from what I’ve seen, aren’t too far off.

 

This is why you don’t venture away from Birmingham

 

K&J Rib Shack is by far the best in Montgomery. Sam’s was really good too but they’ve been closed a while I believe.

 

Archibalds rules but idk if there is anything “Alabama” specific about the procedure.

White sauce on chicken is good when done well, imo.

The rest probably sucks.

 

You aren’t wrong, save for a very few outliers. And even they seem like they’re getting it right by accident. That said, East Tennessee is worse. After living there over a decade i gave up my search for bbq there that didn’t taste like Alpo made it.

Big Bob Gibsons has great wings, but miss me with that white sauce. Theirs is garbage.

 

The couple of times I've driven through the state that's exactly what it looks like.

I’m probably underwhelmed by 75% of the bbq joints I go to. The great ones are just that, but there’s a whole lot of meh in between.

 

It’s not lost on me that a user from South Carolina, inventor of the single most abominable “bbq” item of all time started this thread.

 

Had their ribs a few weeks ago. Thought they were outstanding.

Most bbq restaurants would get rocked by the bbq thread on this here site side by side. There’s just so much bullshit and backwards culinary theory on bbq that is ingrained and lots of ppl will never have eaten at Fox Bros., Rodney Scott, etc.

sausage in general is the worst meat

 

If I’m in Atlanta, outside of the airport, you can bet your life I’m hitting up Fox Bros

 

I have been traveling to Bama for work a decent amount the last 2 months. Their idea of BBQ is Pork and Chicken. As a Texan I'm sure you would be heated with their attempt at sausage.

 

Try Heirloom Market as well.
