They were handled in a manner that made it clear such behavior isn't acceptable Yall are hiring someone who knew children were being raped and did nothing Get fucked
If Currie didn't know this is how Schiano would be received I don't know how much homework he actually did. I'd much rather have Hoke. I doubt that he has even looked at Neal Brown.
All of the responses are outraged fans defending butch Jones. Apparently he never covered up the rape of a child.
This is a hilariously bad stat. You're going to look at 132 seasons to get a grasp on the impact the guy had? Sure you want to look at the time before he got there, but who gives a fuck what happened back when Chris Columbus was navigating the Atlantic? They had one winning record in the 13 years before he arrived.
Ignoring the PSU rape thing, Schiano is probably a decent coach. But considering how much his former players supposedly hate him, a DC role might be a better fit for him. Jim McElwain would be a better hire tbh. Or Jim Leavitt. As would a bunch of other younger guys who are winning at smaller schools (like Norvell, Campbell, etc.).
I think he’s a better coach than many give credit for. Rutgers was as bad as it got before he got there. They fact he got any legit players to sign up to play at RU is a big deal. Guy can recruit and if he has a competent OC I think people will be surprised. My biased
Tennessee fans always proving they are the craziest people on earth. Even if for some reason the AD does a U turn and doesn’t hire Schiano, who in their right mind looks at that fanbase and says I want that job?
I can't imagine a Tennessee fan saying "if everyone else turned us down what else can we do?" as though literally everyone else turned you down. No way Neal Brown turned you down. No way Mike Leach turned you down. No way Brent Venables turned you down. No way Bobby Petrino turned you down. There are coaches out there. I believe Gruden turned you down and Mullen went back to Florida. After that did Currie just say "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Schiano?"
Im surprised Bill Clark’s name hasn’t been getting more run with so many openings. Unprecedented what they’ve been able to accomplish at UAB. Should be in the national coach of the year running imo.
Smokey1210 (1,689) 03:51 PM Today Think about it. If Currie knows he isn’t gonna get Gruden, Kelly or Mullen he absolutely had to figure out how to get our fans behind the next coach. What better way than have a false leak that we are going to hire a man that lacked the integrity to report child molestation. Whoever he hires at this point will he a huge win. Oldest trick in the books. Politicians have been using this tactic since the beginning of time
The fanbase rallied around and supported Dooley and Jones at first though. Beyond Schiano, anyone hired would get immediate support and we'd buy their bullshit.
Nah most rational vol fans dont even want Gruden or knew it was unrealistic but Schiano was always Butch Jones v2.0(now with child rape included)
nothing personal tennessee fans but only human misery and ultimate sadness can sustain my life forces and this has been a bountiful harvest
Honestly, would Tennessee fans even be mad if Lane came back? They didn't handle his leaving very well, but he wasn't a disaster his one year and he only left for his self-proclaimed dream job. If he had never coached there (almost a decade ago!) he'd be a natural fit.
I get being bummed about Schiano when you thought you were getting Gruden, but to act like Schiano wasn't great at Rutgers is ridiculous. He won them their first bowl game in program history and is responsible for 5/6 of their bowl wins.
It's going to be so awesome when Tennessee fans nix this, Schiano gets hired by somebody else and wins, and they're stuck with another fuckboy like Butch.
Mobilizing against a mediocre, unexciting hire by cloaking opposition in a social stance is kind of gross but hey I wouldn’t want him either
